FCCJ/FSCJ Fall 2010 Hopefuls

U.S.A. Florida

I know it is kind of early to start this thread but I thought maybe there were some others out there who are planning on applying for fccj/fscj fall 2010 RN program. Hope you will post on this thread!

I think 112 on the NAT is good. I did not do well on the NAT which is why I am retaking it. Good Luck this semester!! I hope we both get in to the program in August!

Okay thank you for your information. It was helpful to me. Now i'm seriously going to prepare myself for the NAT test.

I'm also applying for Fall 2010. I should have 196-202 pts depending on my grades this Spring. (Taking A&P 2, Hum, and Psych). That is if I do not retake the NAT. I also live in Duval. I am sooo nervous. I may retake it even though I have 112 pts from it. Some of my grades are college courses that I took in high school so they are not so hot. But if I make straight As this semester I should have 202 and I think that is pretty solid but I don't know. I thought I was definitely okay with mid to upper 190s but now I am not so sure. Gonna work my bum off for straight As this semester and probably retake the NAT just in case too. Good luck to everyone!!!! I hope to see all of you there in the Fall.

I am also aiming for straight A's as well. But I understand what you are saying. Keep up the good work. I think you are going to do well with your classes and if you decide to retake the NAT. I don't think you have anything to worry about, but do still wish the best for you. I also took college classes in high school and didn't do as good as I wanted to. And just like you, i'm going to study hard too so I can get my points up. And take the NAT test.

To all of you considering taking the NAT again, I would say DO IT! I know it's $35 and a chunk of time out of a day but it will be worth it. I improved my score by 10 points when I retook it yesterday and not because I had more facts and figures in my head but because I knew what to expect. AND it is the exact same test you took the first time. If I were you I wouldn't feel safe until I had at least a 200 total score. They are only going to be accepting 96 students into the Summer 2010 program so the "extras" will be shooting for a spot in the Fall.

That being said I'm sure you all will do well and simply the fact that you are reaching out to other people in your same situation says something about your drive. ;) Kudos and keep plugging away...

(I'll be applying for the Summer 2010 term... keeping my fingers crossed!)

I wish the best of luck to you. And everything that you are saying is the truth. I have nothing but respect for you. And what you have posted,I felt like it was an encouragement to us all. And I do have my fingers crossed for you. Thank you for your encouragement.

An advisor told me to take the NAT before I was ready to apply, because you have to wait 3 months before you can take it again, and she advised me to take it twice because I would know what to expect the 2nd time around. She said that everyone does better the 2nd time they take it.

Wish the advisors told me that before.

They just told me to take the NAT after I take A&P and Micro which were the last classes I took...

Im done with all my prereqs and Im applying for the upcoming Summer term. Have to take my NAT next week.

I've been brushing up in my math mostly. Have no idea what to expect.

All im aiming for is 100pts from the NAT which is like a 157 raw score. Dont know how likely that is.

I didn't get a good score on the NAT last week (was super nervous). So instead I'm going to retake it and apply for fall term. I've also applied to JU and CCGA (Brunswick) for their fall terms as well. I'm also checking into Sanford Brown, and Keiser. Yes, I know it's expensive, and classes won't transfer to other colleges. I will have my AA this term so I'm not worried about classes not transferring. SBI and Keiser are strictly last choices and I won't go to them unless I absolutely have to. Wishing you luck that you get that acceptance letter April!!

Thanks for the wishes of luck from all of you.

To those who haven't taken the NAT yet, let me give you some advice that would have helped me the first time...

The first section you do will be a math/reasoning combo. DON'T try to do them all, if you're anything like me you'll run out of time. I went through and did the easier ones first and then went back to the ones that I needed a piece of scratch paper for. I got through some of those and then when my time was less than a minute I just started marking answers to the ones I didn't get to.

Hopefully this will help you guys.

How much time for how many questions was it?

Was the math part the only section you found yourself running out of time?

Thanks for the wishes of luck from all of you.

:):):)Thanks for the infomation you give. And I haven't taken the NAT yet. You and and everybody that reply back gave me a better understanding of it now. So I really appreciate the heads up.

I don't remember how much time there was... I want to say 25 minutes but I'm not sure. The time for each section you take is different.

No, the math wasn't the only one. I seemed to be cutting it close on time when it came to the reading portion as well (and I'm not a "slow" reader). I just wanted to be sure I understood it.

Other than those two, I was fine on time.
