how are you guys coming along with all the independent study given to us?
i've mainly been concentrating on the dosage calculation portion. i haven't even taken out the med term book out of its wrapping... i figured it would be better to focus on my weakness first. i'll probably take a look at what med term stuff we have to do tonight.
i really have no problem memorizing terms, but math just kills me. :trout:
I have been working on the homework.. I am realizing that I still suck at fractions.. so im still at the begining of the dosage book.. I am 3/4 of the way through the medical terminology 2nd chapter... but I did all the stuff in chapter 1 ( it did help me to be able to pick out sections of the words ect... (( I am famous for forgeting to just "sound-out" the word).. As far as the shoes..I still have the receipts for the nurse mates... I figured Id try them out and If I hate them I can take them back.
damn, durant ain't wastin time!!!
as far as that email she sent about volunteering goes... man, i have no problem whatsoever volunteering, sh!t, in a way we are paying to volunteer (clinicals). it just irks me that she put "required" volunteering... but i can understand why she put that, many people won't volunteer unless it affects them somehow (grades).
I usually have no problem volunteering if it seems to be really relevant to what I've been doing.. --a "walk" for something just doesnt seem to cut it for me, but I'll do it if I have to. Maybe I'm just lazy...or maybe I dont usually have money to donate... or have too much time on my hands-- as im sure most of us dont. -- Hopefully, there will be more opportunities to choose from.
Hello everyone. I'm also a first semester FCCJ nursing student! I'm in Durant's nursing concepts class and I received an email from her last week stating that important information/material for the course would be available in the bookstore for purchase. It also stated that we needed to call the bookstore in advance so they could make copies for us prior to the first day of class. Well I called the bookstore and they had no idea what I was talking about. I emailed Durant but have not heard back yet. The bookstore people said to check blackboard but there is nothing listed except a few announcments. Has anyone else picked up the info yet?
4 hours of required community service is due at the end of the semester for your techniques class. It has to be health care related and cannot be your place of employment. I went to the nursing home on dunn ave near the school and walked around and talked to the residents for a few hours. Its easy, no big deal.

I bought the nurse mates from the uniform place, then when I went to clinicals, after about 3 hours my feet were killing me. I was hobbling along the hall and one of the floor nurses said, oh byt the way, nurse mates suck. Ya Think!
Somebody tell me the trick for keeping myself awake for the concepts studying. This stuff is killing me!
