FCCJ Fall 2008

Published

Hello all! Just thought I'd start a thread for all of those folks that have submitted, or are getting ready to submit, their applications for FCCJ's Fall '08 term.

I will be submitting my application in a few weeks, when this Spring term ends. I have taken my NAT (twice), so I'm good to go there, but still need to get my CPR class done. I called several places & I'm waiting to hear back from them.

I look forward to chatting with & getting to know all of you, who will be doing the count-down with me... on getting our acceptance letters!!!

I know it helps to sound-board off each other & to lean on each other for support... especially with getting all the things done that we have to do!

Best of luck & success to all!!!

There was an update. The handbook test will not start until 11am!! The agenda for Monday has been revised :D.

Bookstore opens 8am on Monday...so whoever is like me...and waited until the last minute for iClickers. You will be able to buy them before Orientation.

I've read the dosage calc stuff but the frustrating thing is that I don't know what to expect. Every first test is like that, not knowing exactly how hard the tests are going to be. I'm not sure if I've studied it enough but don't want to kill myself now if it's not that big a deal. Are there any current students who can tell us how hard the first tests are? Thanks in advance!

okay i am the process of doing the first indpendent study (yeah i know i am behind:)) but on the review for the basic math two of the answers are wrong in the answer key. number 16 says that the answer is 3.0 but i get 3.873333 and we are suppose to round to the first decimal if the number is greater than 1 right so shouldn't it be 3.9. just like #14 should be rounded to to 3.1 but they have 3.13 now i want to make sure i am doing this right and this is the simplest math we have so why in the heck isn't the answer key right?

just like on page 6, it says "all decimals must have a zero before the decimal point examples: 0.1 is written correctly, 0.2 is written incorrectly and will be graded as wrong- please be careful" now how is 0.2 written incorrectly. have they ever heard of proof reading! maybe they should "be careful". has anyone else noticed this or am i dumber then i thought?!?!? i mean it makes me wonder about the rest of the answers for the all the independent studies. i don't want to have to check the "right" answers all the time.:heartbeat

Specializes in none.

Okay..so I finally have internet access again...yay!!! lol.. I am up to Chapter 11 of Dosc Calc and have just started chapter 3 of Med Term. I feel good about everything so far.

Kodiakgirl: I heard the first tests aren't that bad. I assume they will be just like the ones that they give us to practice with.

Bsilva88: Statline industries is very hard to find. Def call before going. I got soooo lost.

I went and bought school stuff tolday so everything could be organized and not a mess. I think half the battle of school is being able to find everything your looking for..lol.

The classes that are hybrid meets in class very little. If anyone printed off the pharmacology syllabus you will notice it says F2F next to the days. This means we meet in class Face to Face on those particular days. We will be completing everything else online through Blackboard for that class.

Well, I will be out with my friends to enjoy one last night of fun. Hope everyone has a great night!! Remember: We will be studying the next year and a half...enjoy this night while you have the chance.

i'm behind also. i just did the first one and thought the same thing about both of those answers.

In our book Subcut stands for subcutaneous, but in our Dosage independent study I see SQ. I think they are using SQ as the abbreviation for subcutaneous in our study guide am I right?

More than likely we will see SQ more often than the Subcut. I know that in the pharmacy...the MD always writes SQ not Subcut.

AmberB & Nurse-N-2010 :: I'm more behind than you guys. I haven't even started. But I'm hoping that I don't do too bad. I've taken Dosage Calc, IV Calc and Med Term in Pharm Tech school. But I know the RN version will be more indept.:D

WHEW!!!! I have been catching up and reading all of the posts from the beginning.....now I can finally follow along with everyone else.

I am also in the Fall term.......I think I must say right off the bat....I am probably the oldest in our whole fall term class..... :(

I am 42 almost 43 years old....with my husband for 26 years, we have 3 grown children...ages 22,21 & 16.

I am a Dental Hygienist who is soooo BURNT out on hygiene (will TOTALLY miss the great pay..but need the health insurance benefits (which many dental offices do not have).....and now am going to tackle a new profession GOD WILLING!!!

My daughter Ashlee graduated from the RN program here in Dec 2007 along with atleast 6 of her lifelong school friends.... and ...my sister graduated from the program in 2003.....so I have their help and SYMPATHY if needed!

Theyve aleady warned me of the caos and unorganization within the program sometimes...but they love being nurses and wouldnt have changed a thing to get where they are at now! So that is comforting!

Im in section 11 like many of you and cant wait to meet you all!!

You all seem like great people and very supportive and optimistic!!!

I LOVE THAT and feel like I am that way too towards people so I think we will all do just great!!!!

Welcome!

I like the math part, actually. Weird, but relief to me.

That handbook is confusing. What all are the pages we need to know? I read through everything just in case. LoL.

And also... I spent my last free day in Orlando today. Oh yeahhhh. "Calm before the storm." Haha.
