Hello family,
Just wondering for those of you who successfully passed this portion, can you tell me what you used to assist you in completing the FCCA. I have an idea of what they are asking, but as usual, I am second guessing myself. since this is a pass/fail, I want to make sure I pass this thing the rt way, ONCE!
TIA,
Dawn

I did it in one evening. I used an old copy of a nursing fundamentals book and a med-surg book. If you have any experience with nursing care plans, you should be fine. It isn't much of a big deal.

I just found out I passed my FCCA yesterday.
But to be honest when I first got the form, I was very confused. But it soon became very easy. Pretty much you're just listing what you would assess in a patient in regards to their diagnosis (ie: resp assess, I's and O's, wound care, PVA, etc).
And when you list the assignments, just make sure you remember that an LPN can't push IV meds, etc.

I did mine last month. I didn't use anything. If you know the basics about NANDA diagnosis you should be fine. It really wasn't difficult.

Dawn,
Could you tell me about the workshop you went to...I was planning on going to Tina's (CA) but her May class filled up faster than I thought. Now I'm looking at Lynn's, I want to know your thoughts on her. I took the exams in a fairly decent time frame now that I'm at the end I feel myself slowing down. I'm slowing studying for Micro, can't seem to get into any of the material.

Lynn's workshop IMO was a great tool to get you on the rt. track. She reviews the forms that is used during your wkend, and of course careplanning is covered in great detail. I would love to go back after studying just to get a refresher and make sure that I'm on track. I signed up for the skills lab, but it's self teaching. Just an oppurtunity to practice on your own to get a feel of the different stations you will encounter during your wkend. I would not recommend that portion. That's something you could do on your own. If I was to go again, I think I would do the mock cpne, which set up as to critique. I hope this helps.

I also wanted to add that once you learn your critical elements, I recommend that you take the online documentation and careplanning conference through EC. I also heard by a well known person on the EPN named PR. That the EC skills conference was even better because it covered the critical elements, patient care scenarios, careplanning and documentation. She said it was a lot of critical thinking exercises to help you when you get into the patients rooms.

dawn, did you take this exam yet and if so.. i have an idea of what they want but im still a liitle confused anout what they want in the subjective data part. pls help
Do you have your Mosby's guide? If so, use that for nursing diagnosis. Follow the directions, if you have started studying for CPNE use some of the management and assessment as your guide. It's very subjective, so do your best. I've never heard of anyone failing this test.

elby, iam also a bit confused but i have an idea of what they want but if u can clarify i would appreciate it. in the subjective box can what do they want u to write (what they pt is telling u or the reason why u are doing the assessment) exam - objective data/wound assessment, subjective data/ 2 day post-op. Or do the objective have to match up with the subjective. pls help
