Favorite CCRN Book

Published

I have started studying for CCRN because I am about to qualify for the hours restriction... What's your favorite book? I purchased the Kaplan book, and I don't really like it. Any suggestions appreciated.

Laura Gasparis, all day, every day, don't even look at another book/DVD. Lots of people have the lecture she does on DVD, I'd borrow it from someone if you can because it is pricey. The book is about $50 I believe and its all practice questions with rationale for the answer choices. I borrowed the DVD from a friend (its 6 disks) and watched it twice, once casually, the second time taking notes. Then I just did practice questions, about 150 each night the week leading up to my exam.

Like previous posters have said, Laura Gasparis, end of story. I watched her DVD set (6 disks) and used the PASS CCRN book for practice questions. I studied casually for about 1 month and hardcore for one week before the tests, passed easily.

I'm also in the beginning stages of studying for my CCRN. I bought the Pass Ccrn review (little dry) but have seen some of the videos mentioned and they are amazing.

Yep DEFINITELY Laura Gasparis Vonfrolio!!! I saw her live! I bought her CCRN CRAM on VHS and her CCRN review book. That and the Pass CCRN! questions disc helped me to pass CCRN on the first try!

I had gotten a few books that I wasn't really fond of, and was casually studying until I made the hours to test. Last week, a senior nurse on my unit (and my former preceptor) made me copies of the 6 DVD set and suggested the Laura gasparis book....OMG!!! Best book ever, I have already learned so much and I feel like I WILL pass using this book! Definitely recommend it

Laura Gasparis gets another vote! The other I like is Cammie House-Fancher who has a review series through Med-Ed. If you want to do practice questions, the Gasparis book is good and you can buy the Pass CCRN! online portion for $25.

Laura G wins my vote the videos and her question book as well as PASS CCRN questions, don't bother with the book it will make your head spin. Kaplan's book was worthless, not enough detail and the online questions were not pertinent to the content actually covered on the exam. If you want a challenge try the orange Ahrens CD that comes with his book - 2 150 question tests he is a hemodynamics guru!
