Applications are open for FAU's January 2015 enrollment date! With just over 4 months until the deadline and 8 months to the start of the program, now seemed like as good a time as any to start a forum to ask questions, relay information, and support possible future classmates.
To start off, I was wondering if any one knew if they normally offer a ABSN program that begins in the Spring. I had only heard of admittance to the Summer semester at the beginning of May.
My cum GPA wasn't too hot. Had a 3.1, but since I've gone back to take prereqs, I have a 4.0 prereq GPA and 99th percentile on TEAS. Science was my weakest, but the fact that my mom is a grammar Nazi and I'm a Math teacher really helped me on those sections. Really curious to find out about Orientation. I was also accepted to FIU and their orientation is Wednesday. Pretty sure I'm going to be an Owl, though.
I got in!! yayyyy, congrats everyone! I have two questions, 1) does anyone know if you just got fingerprinted recently (for a CNA license) if you need to get re-printed? and 2) Anyone find out whether we have to attend that orientation on November 15? I saw someone may have asked that but I was just wondering if there was any new news on that. Please post if you find out, Ill try to call on monday.
I just ordered my background check and even though it was through the same company, they said that FAU would not be able to see the results of the fingerprints I ordered for a different school.
Technically we aren't fully accepted yet. They are waiting to get the background check and fingerprint results. I don't think we would have the orientation until after we receive the official acceptance letters.
Anyone have a number that I can call? I tried calling earlier today, but no one picked up, so I left a message. I really would like to verify orientation date, start date and anything that may be relevant as soon as possible.
So I was able to reach someone and was told to go by the email. I will email or can someone else email Dr. France to verify the information. Thanks again. Less than 2 months.
Thank you very much for the information and your kind words! I try to stay positive. I applied to UM at the end of October, so I won't probably hear from them for another couple of weeks. My cum GPA is 3.35, and my science GPA and overall prereq GPA are 4.0, that's why I was surprised to get denied from FAU, but oh well. Like you said, everything happens for a reason) Did you take your prereqs at FAU or somewhere else?

If not you can also call them I know a lot of people have done that and there is a forum for the UM ABSN applicants as well. Yeah, give it a few weeks! I have my degree from FAU so all of my nursing prereqs were completed simultaneously with my original degree requirements. Good luck! Let me know how things go!

I was wondering the same thing! I thought it was that background check website? There's a thing for uploads but I could be wrong. I'm so confused with the immunization part. Does anyone know how to work that section? Debblasko, I'm on the fence between FAU and UM and I have two more days left to decide. @thatguy777 let us know if you get a response from Dr. France. I sent her an email Friday evening after I spoke with the CON staff. I called again during the weekend after receiving the email she sent to all of us, but on Monday I was also told to send her an email. I have yet to recieve a reply. I'm guessing the orientation is NOT November 15. I know they're going through transitions so I guess this is just part of it.
I don't really understand why orientation would be January 8, if classes start January 5? Maybe that's okay due to the transition to the Spring semester? Maybe it is a typo and it was meant to say December 8th? That would make sense because the certified profile is due December 3.
