FAU 2015 ABSN Applicants

Published

Applications are open for FAU's January 2015 enrollment date! With just over 4 months until the deadline and 8 months to the start of the program, now seemed like as good a time as any to start a forum to ask questions, relay information, and support possible future classmates.

To start off, I was wondering if any one knew if they normally offer a ABSN program that begins in the Spring. I had only heard of admittance to the Summer semester at the beginning of May.

Best of luck to everyone!

The second email should mention the orientation.

Ya i just got the second email. January 8th? I thought we start classes January 5th? And the orientation was originally November. Am I missing something?

Hi everyone! Congrats to those who got in the accelerated program!

I went to an information session earlier this week and while I'm applying for the traditional track, I was surprised to find out that the interviews were in groups! :nailbiting: I apologize for asking here because I can't seem to find a thread for the traditional track, so I hope no one minds me asking but: how did the interviews go? Do they ask questions as if its for a job interview?

Hi, Apaskova. I applied to both FAU and UM ABSN. Got denied from FAU((( Still waiting to hear from UM. Super nervous! Do you mind sharing your cum GPA and prerequisite GPA? Thank you.

I thought orientation was also this coming Saturday? I shall call on Monday to verify. Need to know asap if I need to book a flight or not. And congrats to everyone again.

It is a panel interview like a job interview. I had a friend who went to UNF and he gave me some pointers. Basically, what I did was look up questions and had my answers prepared before the interview. I made sure I knew my answers (not too well that I sounded scripted) and practiced once the morning of with a friend. Idk how I compared to other candidates, but I got in. I believe my passion really showed. :-)

Bahhh! I just wrote this long reply to you and a glitch caused it to be deleted!

OK. So, I called Friday after I saw the email (which was an hour after it was sent, doh!) And Dr. France had just left. The office staff were very nice, but unable to confirm when the orientation was. They just said that the website has it listed as November 15. I feel this is conflicting with the second email we received on Saturday, but idk.

I went ahead and bought my tickets with insurance because I'd also need to fly. Are you from out of state? I'm currently living out of state and I'm wondering how the fingerprinting will go if we're not in Florida.

Amandinator!!! We interviewed together. Did you get in? I guess I'll find out soon enough.

I got in!! yayyyy, congrats everyone! I have two questions, 1) does anyone know if you just got fingerprinted recently (for a CNA license) if you need to get re-printed? and 2) Anyone find out whether we have to attend that orientation on November 15? I saw someone may have asked that but I was just wondering if there was any new news on that. Please post if you find out, Ill try to call on monday.

Hi everyone, I just checked my FAU email and found out that I've been accepted, too. I found this forum because I was also confused about the orientation date. I look forward to meeting you all.

Hey Lillilit, when did you apply to UM? I applied at the end of September and found out at the end on October. My cumulative is a 3.1 and I honestly have no idea what my prereq GPA is but I know its above a 3.0. I recently interviewed at another school where one of the requirements in order to get an interview was that your prereq GPA had to be above a 3.0. I don't know if that helps you at all. Stay positive and keep waiting. My cumulative GPA isn't the best so maybe that will give you some hope :) In addition, I got denied from FAU during my last semester of undergrad. I waited a semester and then applied like crazy. DO NOT GIVE UP if things don't go as planned this time around. Getting rejected sucks. Don't forget that everything happens for a reason. Looking back, I am so thankful for everything that happened in the past 8 months. Stay positive :)
