I haven't seen a thread directed at applicants for this application cycle, so I figured I'd start one! Just one month left until applications open. Who's ready? :) I figure we can meet here to discuss any questions or issues with applications, provide support and feedback to fellow applicants, as well as introduce ourselves as potential future classmates! Communication is, after all, critical for all nurses.
I actually have a question to start us off. The pre-requisites listed for the program mention "College Algebra or equivalent" for science GPA calculations. In my case, I took a few more advanced mathematics courses for my degree, and I have a better grade in Calculus than I do in College Algebra. I can only chalk it up to it being my first semester in college. Does anyone know if they will count my Calc grade instead? It means the difference between a 3.8 and 3.9 for my science GPA.
heatherleughann,
I had the exact same problem! They cleared mine though because they were missing documents of mine. Idk which documents though because I never sent any in after I received an email from nursing saying they can't see I was admitted. I was admitted back in December and i guess it was a pending admission and urs is probably too. I think it is just a screw up on the admissions officeMary Curran ended up working it out with the admissions committee so she will do the same for you. Just email her and make sure everything is settled. Hope this helps
For any second time applicants I just learned (through my own investigating of finalncial aid ... not any notice recieved from CON) that my initial acceptance to FAU (from prior to application to the 2013 nursing program) is no longer valid. If you do not attend FAU for 3 semesters you need to reapply. I have done so and hopefully everything goes through in time. I just wanted to let everyone know in case there are other repeat applicants who were (like me) unaware they needed to reapply to FAU this year as well to become fully admitted
Yes. It is required yearly for anyone who works as a nurse anyway, due to possible exposure through patients. So it is required for clinicals. If you look at the FAU health requirements for the CON, a yearly TB test is listed as a PPD test.
