FAU 2014 ABSN applicants

U.S.A. Florida

I haven't seen a thread directed at applicants for this application cycle, so I figured I'd start one! Just one month left until applications open. Who's ready? :) I figure we can meet here to discuss any questions or issues with applications, provide support and feedback to fellow applicants, as well as introduce ourselves as potential future classmates! Communication is, after all, critical for all nurses.

I actually have a question to start us off. The pre-requisites listed for the program mention "College Algebra or equivalent" for science GPA calculations. In my case, I took a few more advanced mathematics courses for my degree, and I have a better grade in Calculus than I do in College Algebra. I can only chalk it up to it being my first semester in college. Does anyone know if they will count my Calc grade instead? It means the difference between a 3.8 and 3.9 for my science GPA.

Hey just curious if there are any bro applicants out there? I know there was only one other male during my group time.

That was me, hopefully they accept enough guys that not just one is singled out in the program would be awkward lol

lol the one when we were in the waiting room!

I'm so curious to know how they are going about with picking students base on the use of scantron sheets. . What qualities are rated and how many possible points can one have earned. .

Two more weeks to go. . . . This wait is so dreadful. . .

It's out of our hands at this point, so best thing to do is just keep busy and prepare by doing immunizations and your BLS class now if you haven't already. That, and enjoy the free time while you have it! XD

As a side note, while randomly checking the website yesterday, I noticed they changed the date of orientation to Saturday, April 5th. It was previously listed as Friday, April 11th. Just FYI.

I could have swore I thought it said Friday April 4th before they changed it. . . Btw you know where I can get a list of shots needed?

The ABSN program orientation was previously listed for the 11th (they hadn't changed it on another page). Not sure about the traditional.

Florida Atlantic University - Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing - Current Students

The link above provides all the immunization information you need. :)

Oh okay so I guess traditional and accelerated will join together for orientation

So on overview for both program it states April 5th but when you click on application link it states the original date lol

Yep. I'm assuming it's an oversight. Either way, our acceptance emails will state the date for orientation.

Is anyone else applying to any other schools?? I am not and I'm a bit worried maybe I should have. . .

I did not. In my opinion, FAU's nursing program is one of the best in the state (if not the best). I really can't see myself going anywhere else.
