I haven't seen a thread directed at applicants for this application cycle, so I figured I'd start one! Just one month left until applications open. Who's ready? :) I figure we can meet here to discuss any questions or issues with applications, provide support and feedback to fellow applicants, as well as introduce ourselves as potential future classmates! Communication is, after all, critical for all nurses.
I actually have a question to start us off. The pre-requisites listed for the program mention "College Algebra or equivalent" for science GPA calculations. In my case, I took a few more advanced mathematics courses for my degree, and I have a better grade in Calculus than I do in College Algebra. I can only chalk it up to it being my first semester in college. Does anyone know if they will count my Calc grade instead? It means the difference between a 3.8 and 3.9 for my science GPA.
My Nerves are bad, I applied to fiu as well just in case, has anyone every applied there? I'm just nervous because I scored terribly on my teas but it seems like I have the minimum score for fiu, I gotta 3.9 GPA... I really hope they take me in consideration...I hate waiting :/ ...I'm applyingeverywherer
Me too!! I got the same GPA as you and probably the same TEAS score LOL! I am going to retake the TEAS again right before application deadline for FIU. I applied to Nova and Barry and have been accepted to both for this past semester but I deferred my seat until the fall. . . I don't come from a rich family therefore those are my very last desperate options I am going to keep in the back of my head. . . But I always wanted to attend FAU due to their philosophy of "caring" in the nursing program! Its always nice to think positively but at the same time. . . Unfortunately you have to think realistically and realize although it is your wish and dream to attend a certain school. . . the cards might not be dealt in your favor and therefore you have to keep your options open. . . anyways enough of that. . . we are down to the final hours I guess. . . Wishing everyone the best of luck in the next chapter of your life and career no matter the outcome here are FAU. . . Never give up. . . here or somewhere else there is always going to be a path to get to your final destination that is if you really want it. . and never give up!
Last year I applied with a 4.0 science GPA, and scored in the 90th percentile on the TEAS. This year I decided the retake the TEAS and scored in the 99th percentile this time. It's crazy because last year almost everyone on this blog scored in the 99th percentile! Dr Dormire said last year that it was a very competitive class, so hopefully we all have a better shot this year! The interview will definitely help us all out. I think it's nice that we all talk on this blog, too. It's nice to know that we are all going through this process together :)

wow The GPA and Teas scores both from last year and this year is astonishing. . . and you didn't get in. . I'm speechless on that part!! Also for the amount of applicants that the school gets, I'm surprise their isn't more people who actively take part in this conversation on the forum.
I was told that the average TEAS score for students accepted last year was in the mid to high 90's. Last year's applicant pool was on another level! I think it was just a freak applicant cycle, so don't worry everyone. The interview gives you a chance to shine even if your scores aren't the best. It'll be so beneficial
