FAU 2014 ABSN applicants

Published

I haven't seen a thread directed at applicants for this application cycle, so I figured I'd start one! Just one month left until applications open. Who's ready? :) I figure we can meet here to discuss any questions or issues with applications, provide support and feedback to fellow applicants, as well as introduce ourselves as potential future classmates! Communication is, after all, critical for all nurses.

I actually have a question to start us off. The pre-requisites listed for the program mention "College Algebra or equivalent" for science GPA calculations. In my case, I took a few more advanced mathematics courses for my degree, and I have a better grade in Calculus than I do in College Algebra. I can only chalk it up to it being my first semester in college. Does anyone know if they will count my Calc grade instead? It means the difference between a 3.8 and 3.9 for my science GPA.

Hi guys! I am new the forum! I applied to FAU and I had a few questions based on reading this. Do you think it is okay to have put the Z number in the additional information section? Also, what is everyone saying about TEAS scores and designations? I took my TEAS at another school and had it sent from ATI to FAU and then I uploaded a scan of my results on the document upload.

I'm not too sure about the znumber thing, I know I had to call them to add the znumber because I didn't put it in the appropriate place....I took the teas at fau so I personally didn't scan it (which I later found I should)but I did take it at FAU and the lady said that would be ok....she also stated that it should've been uploaded in the test section I believe on nursing cas...From your description I think you did it right

Hey Brianna. I was instructed by NursingCAS to place my Z number under the additional section, so I think you are set there. As for your TEAS scores, you can check to see if you designated them to FAU. Go to your application and click on designations at the bottom (not the quicklink, the one under Additional Sections). Select designated schools, then select FAU. Scroll down and under a heading labeled document uploads you should see your TEAS file listed there with an option to detach on the right. If the document is there, then you have already designated it to FAU.

Thanks for that explanation

Hi applicants! Dr. Dormire checking in again.

I just scanned through the posting and am also surprised that you just received admission messages from the University. Who knows that that is all about!!!! On behalf of my colleagues within the broader University, I apologize for the stress.

Regarding the interviews, everyone will hear at the same time. Well, I should say, everyone SHOULD hear at the same time. That is the plan. But, with someone different in place, I am not sure. I don't think it would be right for people to have invitations and others to be wondering.

In reference to Znumbers, please don't worry about it if you have not added it to your NursingCAS application. Your applications are all connected to FAU information by this time. Next year we will make it a designated field. But, please do not put yourself through any stress of trying to add it not. Life is stressful enough. We don't need to add things for ourselves to worry about.

E-mail is the official method of communication for FAU. So, please check your FAU e-mail and the account you have tied to NursingCAS. That is how you will received your notification. Last year weeks after notifications were sent, someone contacted me to ask why they did not receive a letter. When I checked, their e-mail had been sent. In clarifying the e-mail address, the applicant stated, "Well, I don't have that e-mail address anymore!!" I was shocked. How did the applicant think we were going to get in touch? Why would you change the e-mail address you have tied to Nursing CAS in the middle of an application process? Who knows, but I share the story so that you don't make that mistake.

OK, that is the news for now. I do think you will be hearing VERY soon. Keep your eyes on the e-mail!

Sincerely

Dr. Dormire

Thank you Dr. Dormire for the clarification :)
