Hi guys,
Guys, help me decide what state will i choose.I'm planning to take my NCLEX exam. . I'm thinking of
New Mexico or Vermont for my initial license. Then, assuming i pass the NCLEX, I will endorse my license in California. Do you know the processing time of endorsement of license in California? Do I need to comply to their requirements/regulations before i can endorse my license... Can you pls help, any suggestion? . thanks

Hi: I' sorry I don't know the processsing time in Cali, but I'd advice you to apply through Vermont 'cause it's really fast to authjorice you to test. For the rest of the paperwork, after you pass, it's not that fast, but indeed it's faster that other states. Good Luck

You still have to go thru the Immigration process, and it is long, especially for CA.
One state cannot be recommended simply because it is the fastest. There are many other issues that need to also be taken into account. Especially if you stil need to go thru the immigration process to get a visa. Vermont is the fastest when you are already in the country and on a visa to be here. But out of the country? Again, there are many issues that need to be taken into account before anyone can seafely recommend a state for you.

What about if you are out of the country? I mean with nclex and results, will the wait be longer if you're not in the US? Or one can still get her license even if she's not physically present in vermont? i'm really sorry, it's confusing.
No state requires that you be present in the US for licensure. There are a many that require the SSN# to be submitted, but this is different.
You will get results, but be aware that Vermont takes about one month to actually issue the license. CA takes about one month to find out your results, after you wait four to six months to be able to take the exam.
There are many that went for initial licensure in Vermont that have never been to that state.
that's what i thought. thanks suzanne for always answering my queries. i can deal with the delay in license delivery as long as i'll know that i passed. that would be so much relief already. Ahm, I have another question that's bugging me, maybe it was answered already in some threads that i was just not able to fully comprehend.. here it is..
assuming i had my vermont license, and i wanted to endorse to cali (coz that's where my family lives) i understand that i will have to have SSN to be able to get a hard license from cali. And to be able to have an SSN, someone has to petition me. My question is: does the petitioner be from vermont or it's okay if she's from cali? That's my worry actually. I was thinking that before I endorse to cali someone from vermont has to petition me first --and that would mean i have to work there in vermont first.
and if i remember correctly, you mentioned (correct me if i am wrong) that an RN can get her license in half a day at Sacramento considering she has SSN. But when I visited cali's RN endorsement site, it asks for documents almost the same as when applying for initial licensure! How was it made possible--the half day processing when it asks for so much documents? Thanks so much!
