Fall 2017:UT Health Science Center Houston

Published

Hi all!

Thought I would start a thread for the fall semester! Anyone who wants to share their stats or anything about the application process can post them here! My stats as of now...

Pre-nursing GPA: 3.54

Science GPA: 3.67

HESI: 87.7

Pretty worried that my stats aren't good enough. Scored low on the A&P section of the HESI (80%) but made an A in the class...hoping maybe that will help even it out? I get discourage when I read through the other threads and see people get rejected with 4.0 GPA's and 90s on the HESI. :( I do have 80 volunteering hours at a children's hospital but I doubt that would help me enough.

You are correct, dickerson. I have spoken to a really helpful lady at UT in admissions who stated that HESI is the first and foremost important aspect of your application. They do not even look at your GPA until you have made the HESI "cut." I do believe, but am not 100% sure, that your A&P score is probably looked at closely. So, basically it doesn't matter how high your GPA is if you didn't do exceptionally well on the HESI, you won't make it to the next round. So, make sure your HESI score is high.

Yeah ^ This makes me worry that an 88 in A&P is not high enough for their cut off. I think I may need to take the HESI again now that I've completed A&P II, boost my chances in case I don't get in this Fall.

What would be considered a high HESI score? Above a 90 should be fine right? I also think an 88 A&P HESI score isn't low, and it should be fine?

Anyone else already get in to another school but waiting to here back from uthealth??

I was accepted into TCU's accelerated program, but I'm still waiting to hear from uthealth! Hopefully we hear within the next couple of weeks.

I was accepted into Texas Women's. They're actually having their orientation tomorrow where we will register for classes, so even if I was accepted into UT I don't think it will be an option for me anymore. TWU offered me quite a bit of financial aid and I don't want to mess with it!

I was accepted to UTMB for Fall 2017 on Monday. Went ahead and paid the deposit to secure a spot somewhere.

Accepted to TAMU-CC nursing program! Excited for either one! :)

I think there should be a rule that ALL nursing schools must notify you by a certain date! June is crazy late..

Is anyone planning on attending any more info sessions? I was thinking about it, maybe there will be more insight into a notification date?

There will be no news lol

One question about Texas Woman is it true you won't be considered if you have even one "C"? Thanks

I was accepted to TWU and UTMB. I accepted TWU while I waited for UTMB to get back to me. As of now, I'm following through with UTMB bc it works out better for me.
