Hi all!
Thought I would start a thread for the fall semester! Anyone who wants to share their stats or anything about the application process can post them here! My stats as of now...
Pre-nursing GPA: 3.54
Science GPA: 3.67
HESI: 87.7
Pretty worried that my stats aren't good enough. Scored low on the A&P section of the HESI (80%) but made an A in the class...hoping maybe that will help even it out? I get discourage when I read through the other threads and see people get rejected with 4.0 GPA's and 90s on the HESI. I do have 80 volunteering hours at a children's hospital but I doubt that would help me enough.
I checked the mail yesterday (April 24 for those that are checking) and I received my transcript evaluation. It is postmarked April 21st. Everything is as I expected it to be, except for my performing and visual arts credits and electives. It's not a make or break document, because I mean ultimately, the grades one made by the deadline to submit are pretty much all we have to be considered by. Receiving or not receiving this transcript evaluation is not going to change the B I made in Intro To Psychology or that I haven't finished Statistics yet.
I will say that I think it is a very helpful document to verify what UTHSC has on file about me, and what their official record of me consists of. But to my understanding, you can always contest inconsistencies. I do feel fortunate to receive it and am thankful to the admissions team who worked hard at getting all of these processed and out to us. To those of us that have not yet received a transcript eval and are having trouble with anxiety in waiting as I have been, keep hanging in there. We will know soon enough.
Has anyone received a transcript evaluation that has completed everything and has nothing pending? That may make the difference. Everyone that I've read thats received one has something pending (like a class that they have left to complete or are currently in the process of completing). If thats not the case, then once again, I don't know. LOL.

I still have classes pending for this semester and need to complete one over the summer semester but have not received a transcript eval yet. I don't have a clue what determines it.
Guys,I received my course evaluation today. Unfortunately there are some decisions that I do not agree with. Does anyone know how I can appeal? Has anyone had any success in contesting?
It depends. Did they not accept one of your classes or something ? If so, the same happened to me. Honestly, good luck trying to get an email back from them or someone who isn't a machine answering their phone. When my class didn't transfer I called for months and sent numerous emails. When I finally got an actual person who answered the phone, they told me to just email them. Which is what I had been doing. This was 3 months ago..... still never got a response.
Mermaid,They did not accept three classes that I took in California. I got a hold of someone admission and sent her my appeal with reasons. She accepted my classes the other day and sent the new evaluation to Admission for reconsideration.
I'm from California too !:) they didn't accept my American government class because it included California history. That's great they changed it for you.
Hey guys! I just received my transcript evaluation in the mail today (April 27) and finally had the courage to open it. My stats are as followed:
Overall Undergraduate GPA: 3.057 (ugh!)
Nursing Pre-Requisite GPA: 3.650
Pre-Requisite Science GPA: 4.000
My overall GPA isn't great, I know, but I am not losing hope. Anyway, this was long awaited but I do have a question if anyone can help me out! There are some ">R" codes next to some of my courses, what does this specifically mean? They did not do it on all courses, just some under courses where it said "extra courses not used to satisfy prerequisites."
FYI, I contacted UTHealth a couple of months ago regarding a history course equivalency I took at another university and since I did not get a response I took the equivalent course at HCC this semester and it turns out the course I took was equivalent, so I am taking this course for nothing, unfortunately. Other than that, it it extremely consistent and I do appreciate UTHealth for working diligently for this transcript evaluation!
I am excited for what is to come and I am truly excited for all of us.

Hey pearl2020,
Thats awesome. You have a great stats. I wouldn't see any reason why you couldn't get accepted with those scores. Do you already have a Bachelors degree? I hope they don't look too hard at the overall cumulative GPA. I definitely made some mistakes at the beginning of college and I've taken over 200 credit hours worth of classes during my college career.
I think someone explained what the R was in a previous post. Or maybe that was a mystery we have still yet to solve. I did the same thing you did. I thought I had to retake government since the course number changed a few years back. I enrolled and started taking the class, only to find out they would accept the governments I took the first time. Total waste of money.
If you don't mind me asking, how'd you do on the HESI?
Hi jdskaggs! Thanks, I really appreciate it! I hope they don't, too. It was mistakes I made during my first year as a student that really lowered it. I've learned from them, trust me! Also, I do not have a Bachelors degree.
My HESI stats are:
Math - 98
Reading - 90
Vocabulary - 90
Grammar - 92
A&P - 80 (ugh!)
I'm still a little upset about the History course but since I got a B the first time around, I am hoping this time I can fetch an A to make my GPA slightly better. Thanks for all your help!

No problem :) And I totally understand where you are coming from! Hopefully they look at progress.
Your HESI scores are great! I got an 80 on my A&P too. So don't feel too bad.

No such this as "strong" when it comes to UTHSC.
Sorry, friend. Adjust accordingly.
