I applied for entry to the fall 2015 Master of Nursing at the UM, anyone else? Does anyone know about timeline for finding out about interviews and/or final decisions?
I haven't gotten a welcome email or confirmation of my intent to enroll to the DNP program in 2017, but my student record now states that my program of study is nursing and I've gotten two emails requiring that I update my immunization and TB test results (all of which should be done next week hopefully, though the wording in the emails was rather alarming since it's an automated system saying "DUE NOW"). The U is in the middle of a big software upgrade that means some systems are down, so maybe that's affecting notifications for this program? I haven't gotten any snail mail letters either, but I've been trying to get my paperwork in order as far as I am able.
Well it's a relief to know it's not just me if nothing else! I want to get started on all those things we need to do too though, and I'm also hoping to plan one last family trip before I have to dig in for 16 months. I don't want to wait too long to book it and have no good options left, but I don't want to book now and then find out their is some orientation day or something that I wasn't aware of. Hopefully not too much longer!
Just want to double check that no one else has received their welcome email yet? Starting to get really antsy. I had hoped they would send them out in the 15th but maybe they are waiting to hear back from those who were waitlisted. Does anyone know what that deadline might be? Thanks!
I am glad I am not the only one who is feeling that way/hasn't received more information. Hopefully we will hear soon!
Too bad we're not in the BSN program. They already have this: Accepted Student Checklist - School of Nursing - University of Minnesota
I wonder if the dates are the same for us?
Hmm. I wonder as well. I do wish I'd gotten email confirmation of the DNP intention to enroll letter, and I wish they were being a bit more forthcoming about how and when we can register for classes. I hope we have some control in the cases where there are different sections for labs, because it will make a big difference for me commuting from over an hour away. Perhaps an email is in order.
Was just reading about immunization requirements here: http://www.bhs.umn.edu/immunization-requirements.htm#ahc-student
Looks like they might not even let you register until they are completed? Another reason I really want to get this all started!
Also found something that says Grad school nursing orientations are usually the 3rd week of Aug. Hope that's true since we were planning a vacay for the 4th week!

Congratulations, Mirounga! I only applied to the U of MN this cycle so there's no real decision for me to make (other than go/no go), but I certainly appreciate the appeal of getting to practice sooner. In the past I toured Yale's GEPN program and looked into OHSU as well. I have gone back and forth on whether going straight to the DNP makes sense (rather than a program that would give me the master's level specialization), but I think I'll be glad I went this route, and everything is falling into place nicely, so I feel generally good about things.
