I applied for entry to the fall 2015 Master of Nursing at the UM, anyone else? Does anyone know about timeline for finding out about interviews and/or final decisions?
Hi Suyan,
They say the average cumulative GPA that they accept is a 3.64, and the average GPA of the prereqs is a 3.78, so if you did REALLY well in the prereqs I would say maybe you have a chance, but you're right, it is very competitive. If your GPA is poor, but you have a really good essay, good life experiences, and your references write you a really strong recommendation letter, you might have a chance at an interview. It never hurts to try, and if you apply for other programs, you're likely going to have to do a lot of the same things for those ones as well.
There are other programs out there that are still competitive, but a little easier to get in than UMN, such as the entry-level MSN at St. Kate's, or the post-bac BSN at St. Scholastica.
Good luck!

Hi there
Now I am preparing for MN program, I know it is very competitive , but now I am very interested in this program. I have a Chemistry master degree. Unfortunately thing is that my GPA is only 3.0. Do you think should I give up or should I give a try? As we all known,I need finish all of the prerequisite courses before I apply it. recently, I just fell in deep confused ,whether will I go on ? If I have a good grades for prerequisite course ,whether it is helpful for my poor GPA ? Please give me some advices. Thank you very very much.
