Fall 2014- Traditional BSN

Published

I was just accepted to UTA as a student and just filled out the application for the traditional BSN program. I'm kind of worried that my stats might not be so great and wanted to see if anyone else has applied?

3.5 Science GPA

3.66 Overall

92 HESI

I am not partnered and I hadn't heard about that before I was on this site. I work full time in a non healthcare field.

I still need to take the three prerequisite classes (Pharmacology, Pathophysiologic Processes, Intro to Professional Nursing) at UTA, as well as Technical Writing, American History I, Texas Government, and College Algebra which should raise my overall GPA.

Any advice/ anyone else applying for Fall 2014?

this is a documentation online to kind of see where you stand. Add your gpa's so we can all get a good picture of where we all are!

cool document. nice to see how virtually impossible it is for me to even be considered.

dont give up hope! im still praying and hoping that they will call. i have no considerations either...i think the only thing keep me in the running is my 4.0 science gpa.

@Sfolsom and @Wendredhead...Congratulations to you both! I was also accepted into the online program, I look forward to meeting everyone.

Sfolsom,

I got your PM, but I don't have 15 posts yest so I can't respond!

Hi everyone, how do you calculate GPA for science classes? Iam on the wait list and Iam so nervous ... There are not sure to have a seat for BSN wait list right? Do you know when we will know result for wait list people? Thanks

add the your grades for the science courses, for example a=4 b=3 c=2, then divide that by the number of hours you have taken

Does anyone know how the "considerations" work?! I feel like I'm seeing people with 1-2 considerations get accepted over people with much higher GPAs.

I'm baffled because I could have sworn that someone told me that the considerations were only used for breaking ties in the GPA ranking process.

@ hunry

I've read almost all of the posts for the applicants of the past three years and I don't think anyone knows exactly how they rank people. But seeing who has gotten in vs waitlisted vs didn't get in, I think it's probably some sort of point system. Your GPA gets you so many points, then they add so many points for the different considerations. I think a lot of it also may have to do with loyalty. For instance, a person with a previous degree from UTA getting in over a person with a previous degree from another school. This is all for the unpartnered applicants. For the partnered applicants, it's a whole different scenario.

From what I've seen on threads from previous semesters, a lot of people get called off the waitlist and you could get called off last minute, like up to the week before school starts.

How many do you think could get called? Just an estimate.

I really have no idea. But it seems like on all the other threads there are between 5-10. Those are just the people on the forum, so I'm sure it's a lot more than that.
