Is anyone else applying to TCU for next fall? I'm just waiting on my final grades from this semester at my CC before I mail my application. I still have to take A&P 2 and Micro in the spring, but I got a 91.86 on my HESI. I'm really anxious to just get my stuff in the mail already!
And good luck to everyone else!
Danceluver,
You would need to apply in November so you would get your notification letters in feb- march to start in the fall, that's the only time transfers can apply, and yes traditional term is pretty crazy, i can't imagine doing the accelerated, but you may certainly apply for the regular even tho you already have a BS. You can do either or. If you choose to donthe regular it would take you 5 more semesters, and I don't know about the price difference btw accelerated since you'll be considered a graduate student, it would probably end up being the same ( about 55k for all) i think..
And the hesi is different from the THEAS, you would need to take it again, that is the only exam they take.
Hope that helps!
Martha
thank you for the quick response. you have made my day a little bit better. do you know how much in depth they go into the a&p. also, do they have a lot of vocab that related to medicine. what books did you use to prepare for the test. i have the hesi, evolve reach admission assessment exam review. do you know anything about it? if so, is it any help in taking this test. it seems like the math in this book is like way too simple.
this is the link of what the book looks like.
thanks again

Hi EveryoneI am deciding to apply either to the traditional or accelerated program (I already have a BS). But I am in no hurry to finish and i'd rather go at a sane pace and do the the traditional program if i am eligible. That is my question, can i apply as a transfer student to the traditional program even though i already have a degree? How many semesters would the traditional program be? Starting when to when? Is it way more expensive? Thanks for the information!
PS: The HESI exam is brand new to me, is it like the TEAS? How long did you study for it? Can I use the TEAS exam instead? Please feel free to PM me if its easier!!
I actually do, I studied the book you have, it's a light blue one. It helped me a lot, I ended up making a 100on the math and in a&P but I studied all summer. They do actually go a little more in depth than what the book does, but nothing to worry about.
They do have some vocabulary that you kinda have to be familiar on your own, and if youngest study the book you should be fine.
I took the entrance HESI at TCU last year and it was super easy, and I didn't study at all. It tests you over the very basics of math (you get to use a calc), vocab, grammar and reading. I made 96-100 on all of those sections. The A&P might be tricky if you haven't had it in a while. I made an 88 on that section, but I was told that TCU doesn't really even look at that score since so many people haven't finished A&P yet, or haven't taken it recently. I am in the ABT program, btw.
I am also concerned about the A&P portion of the exam because I have not finished A&P I yet! I am applying for the ABT program, so the A&P classes are the last I needed to apply. I am worried the score for this section of the exam is going to ruin my chances of getting accepted. I have been pretty much trying to teach myself A&P I and II over the past 3 months. I still have cardio, digestive, respiratory, urinary, lymph and reproductive to cover on my own in the next month. I am getting extremely discouraged. I really want to be in this program.
I don't know anything about the study guide for the HESI, but those plastic quick study guides by subject (A&P, Biol, Chem, etc) that you can buy at college bookstores would probably help. Those seem to cover the basic, need to know info. You should also probably talk to someone in the nursing office who could clarify what they expect (as far as score goes) for the A&P section.
Good morning everyone,
I will be taking my Hesi A2 on January 27 for TCUs nursing program and would like to know if any of you have any Tips in regards to what I should study and what books to use. I currently have the McGraw-Hill's Nursing School Entrance Exam book and the HESI Evolve Reach Admission Assessment Exam Review book but the Evolve book seems so vague makes me feel like there should be more to it. Also I would like to have some idea in what is tested under the Grammar section.
