Hi everybody?
i figured I start the next round for the Fall 2020 semester for SCCC Nursing! ?
Who else is applying? And what’s your TEAS/Rubric score?

I just took the TEAS (for the 2nd time ever) virtually today (due to COVID-19), and I scored a 77.3% (LITERALLY 0.7 points away from getting advanced.. bummed is an understatement as advanced was all I wanted!). I've been overthinking all day about whether or not it's worth it to retake the TEAS again for what would be my 3rd time. I know of SCCC Nursing RN graduates who have gotten into the program with proficient TEAS scores (lower than mine). I was hoping if you all could give me a little feedback (and hopefully some encouragement) if I share my stats.
TEAS SCORE (2nd time around): 77.3% (0/25 points towards rubric score)
INDIVIDUAL TEAS SCORES (Max 48 points)
Reading Comprehension: 80.9% (10 points)
Math: 81.3% (10 points)
Science: 70.2% (8 points)
English/Language Usage: 83.3% (10 points)
SCORE: 38/48
RELEVANT COURSEWORK (Max 25 pts)
BIO 130: B (3pts)
BIO 132: B (retaken) (3pts)
ENG 101: B+ (3.5pts)
ENG 102: A (4 points)
BIO 244: Outstanding (I'm set to take it Fall 2020 at SCCC!)
MAT103: A (4 points)
SCORE: 15.5/25 points
ADDITIONAL COURSEWORK (1 point)
PSY 101 (0.25)
HIS 101 (0.25)
HIS 104 (0.25)
PHL 211 (Not taken)
SCORE: 0.75/1
TOTAL RUBRIC SCORE: 54.25
I appreciate it well in advance more than you all know.. these classes and tests are hard and challenging. I feel discouraged more than ever, since I've always been a 3.5 and above student; science has never been my strong suit. I hope everyone is staying safe and well during this COVID-19 pandemic!
My plan is to try for part-time just to see if I have a shot of getting in, and if I don't, then I'll retake the TEAS in November/December to try to get that advanced score.
Have you taken the TEAS prep course on the ATI site? I found it very helpful in preparing for the test.
I applied for the LPN-RN program at Ammerman as first option, and Grant as second. I know the LPN-RN program has a Spring 2021 start. When do acceptance letters typically go out? Also, if you don't get accepted into the desired program, do they offer you a seat in the evening program? Due to COVID-19, I know the application deadline has been extended to September. Any information will help.
Hi everybody,
I am applying for Spring 2021. But I am worried if my GPA is not good enough. I have a BS in biology from Stony Brook, and an associate in liberal arts from suffolk (my GPA was high at suffolk, but when I transferred to stony it went low ? ) My prerequisite classes are OK (but my GPA not so good):
AP I -> A
PSY 101 -> A (Honors)
MAT 103 (Stats I) -> A
ENG 101 -> A
ENG 102 -> B+
HIS 102 (Western Civ) -> A (Honors)
HIS 103 (American) -> C+ (Honors)
Any of you had the simillar issue but got accepted anyway? I am so worried and in need of some hope...
Also do I have to take AP II to get in?? I am thinking about applying for it this week to increase my chances of getting in.
Thank you-thank you in advance!

Hi ayling,
Suffolk chooses students based exclusively off of a rubric score, so your GPA will not be considered when calculating it! You can find the rubric off the nursing page on their website. If I remember correctly the only classes that count for points (points vary depending on the grade you got in the class) is API, APII, Micro, MAT 103, ENG 101 and 102. The history and psychology courses equal to be .25 points no matter what grade you got. These classes coupled with your TEAS score will be what get you in! You can still get in the program without taking APII but an A in the class could get you 4 extra points which could make a difference on the bottom line. If you haven't yet I would focus on your TEAS as it's the most heavily weighted and where the majority of your points will come from!

You can only take it twice every academic year and I don’t think taking it in Nassau is much of difference but I’m not for sure. I would also email (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) for that answer. I personally don’t think you’re in bad standing I would say go for it and give it a try! ?
Ps try to get the microbio out the way if u can it might help in your favor
