Fall Semester 2012

Published

Just finished summer session so I thought I would post for the Fall semester and find out what everyone is taking. My schedule is Intermediate Algebra, English, and Spanish 101. Good luck to all that are taking classes this semester. Fight hard for those A's!!

I'm taking A&P 2 and it's lab, Statistics, Eng Comp 3, and Public Speaking.

Checking in:

ENG 121- Honors English

MAT131- College Algebra

BIO 101 w/ lab- Intro to Bio

HIS 211- US History

SPA 111- Spanish I

I'm kind of starting over with school but that's that.

I'll be taking

Intro to Chemistry (with lab). This is the only class I'll be taking on campus, and it is the last prerequisite that I need in order to be able to apply for the RN program for next Fall.

:) These are co-requisites(is that the word?) for the nursing program, and I'll be taking them online.

Intro to Psychology

Intro to Sociology

Composition 2- Intro to Literature

I'll also be continuing to study for the TEAS. Hoping to take that between November and December. I'm thinking late November/early December. That way, if I do not get the required scores, I can retake it in January/early February since the nursing application must be in by mid Feb.

This semester I have A&P 2 with lab, Comp 2, Intermediate Algebra, Music Appreciation, and Nutirtion and Diet. Just went and bought books yesterday. Switching from a community college to a university is a shock as far as costs go. My books were EXPENSIVE compared to what I've spent in the past. My Comp 2 books are outrageous. I have a 1400 page novel, a 1200 page poetry book, and (get this) a book on understanding comic books. I'm looking forward to A&P 2 and N&D, not so much the other classes. LOL

I hated comp classes! They take the fun out of reading and writing lol rent your textbooks if you can.

Renting would have only saved me maybe $150, and I should be able to get back $300 (what the bookstore manager told me) at the end of the semester. I asked about renting, but at my school it's apparently not worth it. Of course, my A&P book was over 1/4 of the money I spent, and since I plan on keeping it, it works out alright.

I'm taking 17 credits so I'll be eligible to apply in January. Going to be super busy for the next four months!!!

Physiology

Microbiology

Microbiology Lab (they consider this a separate class)

Pharmacology

Human Growth & Development

Intro to Health Professions

I had to take Pharmacology and Human Growth & Development online. Couldn't find a session that didn't conflict with Physiology or Micro...ugh! I've never taken an online class before. I prefer being face-to-face in the classroom. We'll see how it goes. I'm planning on making an appointment with both of my online professors so I can at least know who they are if I pass them in the hallway at school. Call me old-fashioned...LOL :D

Can't wait to get going!!!!

Wow that's a heavy load. Good luck to you!

I am taking Public Speaking, Statistics, American Government, & Short Fictions(literature).

EN 101 - English Composition I

LF 112 - French II (I am fluent so it should be easy)

SS 310 - Sociology

SS 510 - Psychology

I wanted to take A&P I this semester too, but was recommended not to and to wait until next semester, since I am taking three of four of my preclinical reqs now, and A&P is the last. I need at least a 3.0 to be considered, and I want a total kick orifice GPA :-)

I feel the same way about my GPA, that is why I would like to get the majority of the non-science courses out of the way. Since in the spring I am going to take A&P1, African American History, & Philosophy.

I will be taking statistics this fall.....not a fan of math either

I agree. Next semester I want to dedicate my time to A&P; memorization is easy for me but I still want to monopolize my time on it, because it is something I will need my entire nursing career, and for medical school as well (my ultimate goal, hopefully). I'll take it this spring, with the "fluff requirements" they make you take like Speech Communication, English 102, and some type of art or dance class (which I find to be unnecessary in nursing. I get it is to be "well-rounded", but my time could be so much better spent elsewhere). Then I just keep my fingers crossed for clinical in the fall! Good luck to you! :-)
