I'll applied to the A.A.S nursing program at QCC for the fall day program.
I'm sure everyone who is applying knows the PAX exam is not required due to covid-19..
This was a huge blow to me because I am a good test taker and I taught highschool reading and math for a few years now(SAT/ACT). However, I do have a 4.0 in all my nursing pre-reqs(including A&P2, Psych 220, and ENG 102). I will be taking micro this Summer.
To those of you applied or planning on it, what are your stats?
To those who backed out of applying bc of covid, what are your plans moving forward?
I also want to use this thread to discuss any questions regarding the program and the whole application process for others.
@2020isavideogame I believe I stated I was under the assumption (never did I say I was absolutely sure) that they interviewed everyone with qualifying stats according to whats stated on their website which is a 3.0 GPA in your pre requisites. The reason that I am under this assumption is because my classmate with a 3.4 overall GPA and a 3.0 in pre requisites was interviewed along with me, which everyone knows is almost unheard of- most people that I've met with 3.5 GPAs that got accepted had an outstanding pax score to balance it out, everyone else I know in the program and graduates had at least between a 3.7-4.0 and a decent pax score that was either at the benchmark or slightly under or they got oustanding pax scores as well. As far as the interviews go, I was interviewed with 6 other people and 2 professors and everyone else I spoke to was also interviewed with 6 other people and different professors than the ones that conducted my interview, so I dont think it would be impossible to interview everyone- I was interviewed on may 12th, the department has a lot of professors, theyre still interviewing today so some simple math can tell you they can interview up to 56 people a day if theres 8 interviews a day according to business hours from may 12 until now.Interviews are an hour long and the same professors are not conducting the interviews, so my assumption isn't far fetched, but again I didn't claim it was factual and still dont.
I really appreciate your input on this. Hopefully you get in. I am just so disappointed that they didn't even offer me an interview when my GPA is a 4.0.. And hearing that people with 3.0's were getting interviewed really is mind boggling. I am doing well in micro right now so I guess I will have to try for Spring 2021.
@2020isavideogame I appreciate your response and your curiosity and spending time on this site just shows how much you care about this - trust me I’ve sat in class with students that intend on nursing and they don’t even know about allnurses- boggling to me. I am also boggled by the fact that you have such outstanding stats and have completed most of your course work and didn’t yet receive an interview. I truly believe Microbiology was the underlying factor because a 3.0 being interviewed with no standardized exam is mind boggling to me as well, from what you’ve said you’re a pretty serious student as I am, we have the same stats and I do think it’s unfair. I’m pretty dumped about the PAX not being accepted as well because as I said previously I paid for it and studied a whole Summer for it, I scored a 140 with 99th percentile in verbal and science and it was all for nothing. There’s been a lot of frustration throughout this entire process, but I still wouldn’t rule you out. Interviews are still happening and I wish you a LOT of success and luck wherever you end up. You will do great! Remember to protect your GPA, it is the most important factor in all of this!
@2020isavideogame hey girl can you PM me? I cant message you because my act is new, I tried. I have a suggestion for you, I've decided to withdraw my application from QCC because I got word of acceptance today from a BSN program - id like to encourage you to apply being that youre just as accomplished as I am as far as coursework.

How do you know they interview everyone? I don’t think that is how it’s done. It would be almost impossible to interview everyone.
