2020 FALL QCC(queensborough) program

Published

I'll applied to the A.A.S nursing program at QCC for the fall day program.

I'm sure everyone who is applying knows the PAX exam is not required due to covid-19..

This was a huge blow to me because I am a good test taker and I taught highschool reading and math for a few years now(SAT/ACT). However, I do have a 4.0 in all my nursing pre-reqs(including A&P2, Psych 220, and ENG 102). I will be taking micro this Summer.

To those of you applied or planning on it, what are your stats?

To those who backed out of applying bc of covid, what are your plans moving forward?

I also want to use this thread to discuss any questions regarding the program and the whole application process for others.

Oh damn I know. So frustrating.

Still nothing. I gave them a call and the department said they are still reviewing applications and the interviews will most likely go into June. Judging off what other people have been saying, the interviews are completely random. Doesn't matter when you sent it in or what your stats are.

Update: I heard that interviews are no longer being given out. They will be giving out decisions in June. I am disappointed but there's always next semester! Good luck to the rest of you!!

So if we still haven't got the interview, does that mean we get denied? Cuz you have perfect stats. I also finished all pre-reqs with a 4.0 GPA and very frustrated about the result.

Really! Where did you hear that? @2020isavideogame

That doesn’t make sense. What about the other people with high stats. So weird ..

This is so strange considering your GPA.
did they even receive your application? This just does not make any sense.

Two friends also have 4.0 and no interview but I still don’t think that means your not in. Maybe they just decided not to interview every person.

They also called and they said they had their applications

I called on Friday. Yes they did receive my application. I think the pre-req GPA is not weighed as heavily as much as HOW you took your classes. From all the students who got interviewed, most of them doubled up on sciences(even tripled) and had prior degrees as well. I only took 4 classes a semester which was my mistake. This Summer I'm taking micro with two other classes. And in the fall, ill be taking pathophysiology with gen chem and gen bio(I skipped these and went straight to A&P). SO someone who has a 3.7-8 but took more classes at the same time are favored immensely. That is what current students have told me. Also, not taking the pax made that even worse.

Did they specifically tell you there is no more interviews? I still feel like not getting interviewed can go both ways.

They said we are probably not going to give out any more interviews(they say this bc they dont want to break the bad news yet to the students and cause chaos). And you have to get interviewed to get into the program which I know for a fact. They will be sending out rejections as well as acceptances so we will find out. I think there are MANY people with 3.9-4.0 prereq GPA so I'm not that surprised with the results. Remember the day program only has 80 seats while 1000+ students apply.

I don’t know how many people applied but I doubt it’s 1000+
