FALL 2021 Nursing program at Suffolk county community college

Nursing program

Published

Hello, I am currently a student at Suffolk county community college preparing to apply for the nursing program for fall 2021 start. I figured I would start this early since the deadline was extended to March 1st 2021. I am preparing to take the TEAS in December most of my prerequisites are finished with a grade of A and one B. If anyone has some great tips on how to score in the 80s and 90s feel free to share. I wish everyone the best of luck.

Does anyone know if they look into depth of the rubric grades or just overview the grade as a whole?

I heard they focus more on the science and math breakdown for the TEAS, has anyone else heard anything about that?

@melaniebeemer @alphiemucha hi guys!! 90s on the TEAS is amazing!! Can you please give studying material you used or any advice that you achieved that score?! I’d greatly appreciate it!! You both will deff get in with 90s! I won’t be applying until next cycle I don’t feel prepared enough yet for the TEAS! Thanks again Xo

I studied for about a month. I bought the official ATI study package and it was okay, but the A&P section was way too simplified and basically useless. The practice exams they give you are good though. After taking a practice exam I skimmed through and highlighted my A&P textbook by Saladin. I also looked at my old notes. I also used a lot of quizlets because they have cool study features. I started with one organ system and added another one every day, then reviewed the systems I already studied along with the new ones. Here's the folder of quizlets I used: https://quizlet.com/Alphonse_Smith4/folders/TEAS-science?x=1xqt&I=3hut51

I also second what melaniebeemer said about the math section, I didn't necessarily do things the "right way" LOL, just kind of convoluted ways to figure out the answer...I got a 97 on the math section, and that's always been my weakest subject.

If I'm not mistaken, don't they look at the TEAS score more than the rubric score? I've looked at previous forums and noticed that a lot of people were accepted with a higher TEAS score than a rubric score.

Yes I saw that as well.. I was looking at the past years conversations and I saw many people got into Ammerman and  Grant With 80+ TEAS and 75+ rubric scores.. Hoping it’s around the same for this years Pool.

That's what I noticed as well... pretty much if your rubric is 75+ you are going to get in to one of the campuses

On the admissions rubric, it states
"An addition of 2 points can be earned if only the first attempt is used for admission consideration, for a maximum of 75 points". For those who took the TEAS once and submitted their score, did you add those 2 points to your rubric score?

I may be wrong but I believe those 2 points are added to the TEAS score only. You can always call the nursing admissions and check with them just to be sure!

If you speak to admissions please let us know what they mean by the two extra points! I’m curious for when I apply next cycle as well!

im pretty sure the 2 points are added to the rubric because if you got exemplary that's 25 points and if you got 90-99 for each individual subject, that's 12 points per subject making that a total 48 points, so 25+48=73 points and since the max is 75 points, I guess the 2 points would fit right in there

Yes I spoke to admissions and they said the 2 points are added to your overall rubric.

if you guys feel comfortable can you say your TEAS score and Rubric score? Just want to see what how our pool is looking!
