Anyone else taking Assessment for Fall third session?

Suggestions from anyone who has taken it already?

I did the case studies for week 2. And, no, it must be different. The peripheral vascular/lymphatic study is a female, Gloria, case study. The 6th edition case study access cost me $36. Hope this helps.

Have not started on week 2 yet. I was able to make genogram on computer using a special software. So, that came out nicely.

I will be marked down for reference issues on Healthy People assignment since I turned it in before third clarification from TA.

Should do very well with Assessment and DB's though.

Hope all of you are doing well this Sunday morning!!

See you around here next week!!

Everyone's going to have to be on their toes this week, in order to get it all done. Thanks to a fellow student I finally found the right link to purchase the HEIS case studies. I've reviewed those, and took notes b/c TA said they would be needed for assignments in the next 3 weeks.

I'm reading chapt 3 of the Nurse as Educator book. Going to work on that assignment this afternoon.

This course is a combination of 2 courses, and I can see that is why there is double work ( some for assessment, some for health promotion).

Looking forward to the 3 week break at the end of this semester!

Also, just got this from my TA Q&A board

Only need reference list for Healthy people assignment with no in-text citations. And do need in-text citations and reference list for Health Assessment.

Unbelievable.

and this is what my TA replied with

When you develop your reference page, please be sure to have correlating in text citations.

Yes...my TA changed her mind like the above after she emphatically stated the other.

Ok everyone is it just me or completing a genogram for an health assessment ridiculous. Further more I will not be purchasing case studies for 36.00 dollars. When I signed up for the class I paid for the class and not extra's. If they wanted the case studies included then they should have notified me or include it with the tuition. I am tapped out of money and tired of spending money on classes that will not help my promotion in my field. This is to much busy work. I don't think they even know what they have assigned. Damm I hate this crap. I knew I should have done face to face classes. I am not getting anything from these classes except a bunch of wasted time that I could be sharing with my family. Thank God I am almost done with this.

How can you put reference in with a health assessment. That is stupid and does not make any sense at all.

I feel so overwhelmed and confused. Feel like I don't understand the assignments for week two. Looking for clarification. You just do the case studies online as practice for the assessment you will be doing on someone? The Intergumentary assignment is the one I really don't get. Complete a focused health and physical assessment using chapters 12 through 20 I think it is suppose to be 12 and 20. So I think you start on page 207 in chapter 12 and ask all the subjective data which goes to page 210. Then you go to the objective data on 211 which you physically assess.

Step 4 says to use the focused history information from your Jarvis textbook chapters 12 and 20 to collect history data from the client. Is that the subjective data or the objective data????What page is that on???

Step 6 Conduct a physical examination of the integumentary, peripheral vascular and lymph system using the physical assessment guidelines provided in chapters 12 and 20 is that the objective starting on page 211???

Are we turning in all that??? Or are we just using that to write the evidence based actual/risk health problems and the narrative???

So you can see that I am lost?? Any help would be appreciated.

I feel your pain... we are basically reading a book and doing papers, NO teaching going on. except self teaching.

I agree they should have added the info about case studies in the original class list of resources. I felt it unfair to "oh and by the way you have to get these case studies too". I did buy it and I can't see really how necessary they are. We just have to do the assessment and follow what is in the book. We are not reporting on the case studies as far as I can see.

My take is if you are using the book to go by, reference it. There are no intext citations that I can figure out.

I noticed that it's suddenly on the list of required textbook purchases now. I know it wasn't there last week, because I was on there looking for a IBSN for a textbook for Spring semester and it wasn't there.

Here is my understanding of it. Start at page 12, go through and do the subjective and objective exams in each through chapter 20. Make notes. Underline any abnormal findings, then write a note in regards to the assessment. It sounds like more than it actually is. I went through and did it last night. Haven't wrote the note yet, but I did it on my husband. What I'm not sure is how to write the note. Are we charting by exception? Supposed to say no evidence of edema, etc? They say write it by referencing the notes they provided. But they don't actually give a sample, they just show examples of bad notes.
