I wanted to start a thread for the Nursing Program at Motlow Fall 2017?
Where does everybody stand?
What are the new requirements meaning for the Program? Does this mean less applicants this year?
I'm not planning on working, but I have kids, so work never stops. Maybe I'll do some PRN in the summers. I have prior experience, but really...I want to focus on 1. Hopefully getting accepted 2. Getting my bearings, and seeing how I can organize my life before thinking about PRN positions. I know it's hard to go to school FT and work FT, and I know some programs don't want you to work more than part time, but I also understand bills and responsibilities!
I'm just wanting to keep my focus now on praying and hoping to get in . Gosh. This new change they made has me stumped . Some of us are cash students , meaning school is on our credit cards , what if we couldn't afford to take all the quality classes and WHAT if ....no one told you about it.
I spent 8 yrs in the military as a corpsman/medic, and other 7yrs as a medical assistant. Many states allow vets to challenge the LPN test, but TN is not one of them. Working in a hospital might give you an edge, but you have to make it through nursing school. I've worked with many techs and MA's who have washed out of nursing school.(not that I think anyone on here would, definitely not saying that) I'm still in the hoping to be accepted stage. It seems like everyone on here has a good shot!!
Nancy, at the smyrna office, told me it would be the last week of March or first week of April. I have 633 points total, all my gen ed classes are done. This wait is killing me, I am 27 years old and already work as a nurse tech/ unit secretary at Summit Medical on the cardiac floor. This has been a long time coming for me. My husband is so ready for me be finished with school. I wish the best for everyone!
I wanna make sure I'm doing my points right.. I don't get any quality points but with a 3.0 I get 225 points and with a 96 on the hesi I get 480 so that puts me at 705. I did 3.0/4.0 and got .75 times 300 equals 225. Then I did .96 times 500 and got 480 then add together and get 705. Just making sure cause I'm doing the same math for other people and not getting the same thing..

I'll be working full time night shift. A lot of people on my floor work Friday and Saturday, days and/or nights. It can be done. And I would highly...highly recommend getting at least a PRN job at the hospital as a tech if you plan on being a nurse in a hospital.
