Fall 2019 Lonestar Hopefuls

Published

Hey everybody. I'm not sure if it's too early but I'm making this page for anybody who is applying to the nursing program at Lonestar College for the Fall of 2019. Looks like Montgomery, Cyfair, and North Harris have applications from Jan 7-April 12. Good luck to everyone!

Hey all! This anticipation is killing me! Lol

I have a question,

are we supposed to be signing up for financial aid now or later? I’m freaking out because I feel like I should be working on that.

Thanks everyone!

Maybe once you know if you are accepted and then do fasfa

Has anyone gotten an email if they messed something up on their application and was told to fix it? My biggest fear is I messed something up and not being told ?

I did. Somehow I submitted one document twice! My HS diploma. And I know I put the right document up on each one. But I guess not. Stupid computer playing tricks on me lol I got an email just 2 days later saying I had doubled a document. Ugh! So she took my application down and I resubmitted. She didn't send any more emails so I hope and PRAY I did it right this time. I hate that you cant click on your document and see what you actually uploaded and what they see! I did send another email last week asking if it was correct this time but still no response. (Nail biting in full effect!)

See idk if it’s bc I have a masters also but when I asked why it was declined, their reason for declining it was “student should have enough finances to pay” but I’m gonna apply again for the fall and put in the post-bac paper that I’m not working during nursing school. So we’ll see!

Hey so i talked to an advisor today and i think the information she gave me will be helpful to you and your appeal! So i went today to talk about my post-baccalaureate request and she basically told me that if i submit right now without being accepted into the nursing program i would be denied because financial aid going by the classes you need in your degree field and technical since we aren’t in the program/degree program we don’t need any of those classes! So i think maybe you should reapply once you get your acceptance letter!

After realizing how many people apply vs get accepted I’m internally freaking out now.. anyone on this forum that is currently in the ADN program want to share their HESI score and location? ?

I actually got into KW as an alternate this spring. My score was a 7.45. I’m maintaining all A’s this semester surprisingly, I’m in level 1 with only 1 more month left until summer. Not sure if KW is an option for fall but the program is amazing. So if you get in as an alternate, don’t lose hope!!! You all got this ?

Hey I had a question about your first semester at CF! I'm interested in going to CF since it's close to me but the completion rate is extremely low compared to other campuses. Would you say it's that rigorous?

CF average graduating class is 35. I wouldn’t really say it’s “extremely low” compared to other campuses. I feel like it just seems that way because our starting class is so small. However, yes, it is extremely rigorous. I chose CF for a couple of reasons. 1) it was close to me, 2) it is an 18 month program that runs through the summer, and 3) I liked the idea of the “block curriculum.” Block just means that each class covers a specific subject. For example, pediatrics is one class, ob is one class, etc. At all the other campuses it is integrated, meaning they pretty much integrate all the subjects into levels.

CF is doable if you are serious about the program and determined to graduate. I have two boys, they’re 5 and 7, in the process of buying a home (which is super stressful) and I have been mainining Bs. Also, I study about 5-6 hours a day sometimes more which is pretty average for nursing school. However, if i could go back I think Kingwood would’ve been worth the hour drive for me. Although I love CF, I would only suggest going here if you have absolutely nothing else going on in your life, if you are trying to graduate earlier, and if you study better in blocks. An advantage of attending the other integrated campuses is that you have the option to transfer between campuses throughout the program. You can’t do that while attending CF because of the difference in curriculum.

Hope this helps. But if you have any other questions I’ll be happy to answer:)

Anyone know of the program schedule is the same with all the campuses?

Once your app is submitted can you change your campus?

I don't think so. I think it is submitted and unless there is something that needs to be resubmitted and reopened by the nursing department.

Is the submit button suppose to pop up after you've uploaded all the documents? I don't see a submit button or even a place where I can rank my campuses...

I believe it asks for you to type your full name at the very bottom of the app then submit.

Ninja.lain02, I do hope so! If I get in to any of the schools, I can arrange my work schedule accordingly! Would be very nice. ?
