Fall 2019 Lonestar Hopefuls

Published

Hey everybody. I'm not sure if it's too early but I'm making this page for anybody who is applying to the nursing program at Lonestar College for the Fall of 2019. Looks like Montgomery, Cyfair, and North Harris have applications from Jan 7-April 12. Good luck to everyone!

Accionursingbook, both of my younger sisters did have their BSNs paid for, one by Clear Lake Regional hospital and the other at Memorial Herman Southeast. This was in the last 5 years. They both said it is commonplace and if your hospital doesn't, it won't take long to shop around because it is a competitive benefit that is on the table for most. One of those two sisters also had her hospital (Clear lake Regional) to pay for her APRN, which she just completed in December 2018, so it's a fair expectation for many graduates that school will be paid for if we make it to RN (I know we can and we will).

I would like to say that I agree with you and everyone else, we have to keep our eyes on the prize. No one is going to be there to infiltrate your first IV, pass your first dosage calculation exam, or pull a nasogastronomy tube when it's your time to shine. You are the one who will be achieving each milestone and conquering every battle, yourself. We are only as strong as our weakest link. I believe that we are all better than what has appeared recently on this forum thread, and it is definitely beneath all of us to act in any way but mature.

Think of the youngsters coming up behind us, we want them to see that we were able to keep a level head and to maintain a civil manner before the assembly. I don't think one person or another is to blame, it is a time of high anxiety, sleeplessness, and great potential. I wish the best upon each and every one of us applying this year. Hold your heads up high and take a deep breath, the Lord knows our hearts and deciphers to the very division of bone and marrow. Acknowledge the Lord in all of your ways, and He will direct your path.

Thanks for the info about your sisters! Nice to hear that it is a real thing and not just talked about more than practiced.

I'm currently working at MH and you're eligible to participate in the tuition reimbursement plan from your hire date. But some people dont because there are strings attached you have to commit to working full time for the next 2 years, while going through the program. You have to factor in the time needed for course work and clinical days. But i think its doable if your program is mostly online. They offer 5 grand a year for medical related degrees and 3 grand for non medical degrees.

Thank you!

Ok guys can we keep to topic. I have deleted a few posts due to personal attacks and derailing the thread

Oh wow, congratulations!! I’m a young mom with 2 boys (2 1/2 & 2 months old) and I’ve literally busted my butt to be at this point! I only have chemistry left to take in order to transfer for my BSN after the program and I’m planning on taking it while I’m in the program towards the end. You had a very inspiring story ?

May I ask why you are not just going for a BSN if this is the case??

Good morning, happy Friday everyone! Here’s to some positive vibes and good news soon! ?

Because the BSN program is a lot more competitive than the ADN & I would have to retake 2 classes to get A’s In them in order to even be considered!

I think I'm MW but that's the only one I saw when I registered. To be honest I don't know how to work Lone Stars new registration system. I can never find classes and I just pick something just to be done with it. I think I want to register for one more for summer 2 so I can finish some of my Core work. I hate MW classes.

The (MODERATOR EDIT OF INITIAL OF INSTRUCTOR) professor. Hahaha
