Hey everybody. I'm not sure if it's too early but I'm making this page for anybody who is applying to the nursing program at Lonestar College for the Fall of 2019. Looks like Montgomery, Cyfair, and North Harris have applications from Jan 7-April 12. Good luck to everyone!

Thank you love bug! Thank you, thank you for coming out & being a helping hand alongside SNA with the nursing graduate luncheon today. Dr. Noeller and Jaunita wanted me to thank you! You were awesome. Can't wait to see more of you in the program next year! Remember anytime you need a little guidance from the upper levels, I'm here ❤️ Night.

I really had a wonderful time! It was great meeting and talking with everyone
Lets just start from a clean slate and keep it to nursing from now on, y'all. We all have a common goal and are frustrated that out of all the cohorts, it's ours that gets the wonky application process. One day closer to finding out though!
Idk about you guys, but I have Finals to keep me company and am also excited to finally start Pharmacology this Summer. I've watched what feels like 100 YouTube videos from nursing students on their tips for getting an A in Pharm and other classes. For me, it's not just about getting through the program but also keeping my GPA up, as I'd love to go to Medical School one day.
I've heard here and there about some hospitals paying for your BSN transition, but does anyone know anyone personally that has had that happen for them? I am core complete and would like to get my BSN asap after ADN.

I am in the same boat as you. I'm BSN-ready and plan to get into a bridge program immediately upon licensure. I also have finals to worry about, and Chem is not going to be a pleasant one! I, too, am trying to keep my GPA up as I want to go to grad school and become an ACNP. Seems like it'd be fun.
There's probably a lot of hospitals that will pay for your transition, but know that will require a contractual commitment, usually 2 years. Actually, MH has a tuition reimbursement program that's pretty generous. They'll pay for any degree earned within the last 3 years. You're applicable after 6 months of employment and are required to stay 2 years following the last payment. So, that's something to keep in mind.

Gotta keep that eye on the prize to continually be pushed and motivated. That way you won’t stop until you get there. One step at a time is the process. But the next step is what’s in mind, not in sight ☺️. People tend to stop or take breaks when they achieve a step that was in sight and they live with a thousand dreams and a million regrets.

Accionursingbook, both of my younger sisters did have their BSNs paid for, one by Clear Lake Regional hospital and the other at Memorial Herman Southeast. This was in the last 5 years. They both said it is commonplace and if your hospital doesn't, it won't take long to shop around because it is a competitive benefit that is on the table for most. One of those two sisters also had her hospital (Clear lake Regional) to pay for her APRN, which she just completed in December 2018, so it's a fair expectation for many graduates that school will be paid for if we make it to RN (I know we can and we will).
I would like to say that I agree with you and everyone else, we have to keep our eyes on the prize. No one is going to be there to infiltrate your first IV, pass your first dosage calculation exam, or pull a nasogastronomy tube when it's your time to shine. You are the one who will be achieving each milestone and conquering every battle, yourself. We are only as strong as our weakest link. I believe that we are all better than what has appeared recently on this forum thread, and it is definitely beneath all of us to act in any way but mature.
Think of the youngsters coming up behind us, we want them to see that we were able to keep a level head and to maintain a civil manner before the assembly. I don't think one person or another is to blame, it is a time of high anxiety, sleeplessness, and great potential. I wish the best upon each and every one of us applying this year. Hold your heads up high and take a deep breath, the Lord knows our hearts and deciphers to the very division of bone and marrow. Acknowledge the Lord in all of your ways, and He will direct your path.

I'm currently working at MH and you're eligible to participate in the tuition reimbursement plan from your hire date. But some people dont because there are strings attached you have to commit to working full time for the next 2 years, while going through the program. You have to factor in the time needed for course work and clinical days. But i think its doable if your program is mostly online. They offer 5 grand a year for medical related degrees and 3 grand for non medical degrees.

They take 100+ so it probably dips lower than other programs. What's your score sheet total and your list of campuses in order? I'll add you to the list
