Fall 2019 Lonestar Hopefuls

Published

Hey everybody. I'm not sure if it's too early but I'm making this page for anybody who is applying to the nursing program at Lonestar College for the Fall of 2019. Looks like Montgomery, Cyfair, and North Harris have applications from Jan 7-April 12. Good luck to everyone!

Did you have any questions that were select all that apply?

None that I remember

How did you get a 98 on the A&P portion? There’s 25 graded questions. If you miss one you get a 96

You are right, sir. Here ya go. Not sure why I remembered it being a 98. I think because in my head I remember missing one and I calculated the grade in my head comparing it to the 50 question exams I have been taking all semester.

Then I can't figure out how you would mathematically achieve a 98 ?‍♂️ To my knowledge they are single-answer only questions. I never saw any SATA questions either.

I don't know how true this is, but a friend of mine who is in the Montgomery program as a first-year student told me hospitals are hiring ADNs from Montgomery but NH students can't even get an interview. Take that with a grain of salt, but it's worth knowing I suppose.

Has anyone heard positives about cy fairs program? And which one is better, cy fair or nh??

I wasn't trying to be a dick or anything...I just couldn't figure out how you would achieve such a thing. It was really throwing me off lol. That's still really good. I made an 88 on my A&P the first time and lost some knowledge from not studying/worrying about Chemistry and made an 84 the second time ? I'm really pissed I didn't get the CT portion in on my first attempt. Oh well. 91.6 isn't anything to scoff at. You should definitely be proud of that score ?

I talked to a Cy Fair student nurse in a hospital about a year ago who was in clinical...she said she liked the program. Other than that, I haven't heard much. I've heard some people trash talk it...but everyone has opinions you know?

The important thing is just making the most of wherever you get in. Absorb all the knowledge you can even if it means having to read books on your own. I have made my judgments based on statistics, such as NCLEX pass rate, where do the highest GPAs usually go, etc.

Yes, my cousin went through the ADN program at Cyfair beginning 6 years ago and excelled in the curriculum with 3 children, a beat-up unreliable truck and barely any income. I am so proud of her. She has been working at a hospital for the last 4 years and has not had problems finding a job or money issues since graduating. She completed the NCLEX with a score that was in the top 5% nationally, not just in Texas. The program is condensed into 18 months I believe, instead of the 4-semester format of the other LSC campuses; which will be all-encompassing, no doubt. My cousin inspires me daily and I know that if she could do it, another person equally determined can definitely succeed. Best of luck to you.

I’m sitting here thinking about what I can do until June to distract myself! Maybe a mini vacation!! Something to look forward to before notifications come out..!

After my pharmacology final this Monday, I started Spring cleaning! I am attempting to get my home into an 'auto-organized' state that will alleviate some of the stress when we're doing clinicals in the nursing program and attending classes. I attempted to "Marie-Kondo" all of our clothing, but after caressing each shirt and thanking each item for its service, I grew impatient and decided to just wing it for the remaining items. It's the thought that counts lol. I am trying to get everything into a system that will be easier to manage when my housework time is diminished because I KNOW it is going to be super busy soon...and I don't want us eating out of ice cube trays or walking around naked looking for socks and such. Only on the weekends is my policy ?
