Hey everybody. I'm not sure if it's too early but I'm making this page for anybody who is applying to the nursing program at Lonestar College for the Fall of 2019. Looks like Montgomery, Cyfair, and North Harris have applications from Jan 7-April 12. Good luck to everyone!

Yes! So the worse case scenario I’m going to focus on other sources for AP. I was very disappointed once I took the test. What somewhat helped me was that I had recently taken AP 2... but that’s it. Grammar and math were my highest grades.

What did you use to study for Grammar? This was my lowest grade

Agreed. Went through literally all of the hesi book grammar review, and then did youtube videos for anything I was still confused on, grammar quizzes, and called a friend who graduated with a degree in rhetoric and poetry

These are the main websites I had used, it has the quizzes by categories, nouns quiz, verbs, etc:

I took the HESI the first time and made a 93.2 (in under 2 hours mind you) but forgot to take the Critical Thinking (lapse in memory on my part). I have a friend that didn't score well and retook it and got v2, but she took it at the same testing center we did before (Prometric). She got a completely different test with different reading comprehension passages and everything. She found info on Facebook that laid out the passages for v1 and v2, so Facebook groups would be helpful for knowing what's on the exam.
I retook the HESI at Montgomery last minute and was too busy to study for it, basically going off retained knowledge and made a 91.6. The test I got at LSC was v1 without a doubt. I have a pretty good memory and I know each one of those reading comprehension passages were the same. So, you probably only get the v1 version of the test at Lone Star.
I don't know how often Elsevier updates the whole question sets, but my questions were pretty close to the same concepts with some fresh material in the A&P section. We also took the TEAS so studying was chaotic for it as it tests on A&P, chemistry, medical microbiology, biology, physics, nutrition, and general science knowledge. Essentially, we used textbooks and powerpoint from classes to study for science. We used the HESI book from Elsevier for everything else to brush up on.
From what I was told by an advisor, generally those who test well on standardized tests will test well again on each subsequent attempt. It's generally pretty hard to pick a score up 10-15 points, but it is possible of course.

I should have taken the HESI again for this round but I got so tied up with things I didn’t have the time. Some have mentioned some AP quizlets and Facebook groups from what I heard that help a little more than the book. I’ve been wondering the same as well, if the questions were similar. I had a lot of heart questions, eye, ear (I didn’t see the senses in the book or much info about it).
Boostprep has an AP HESI study module that’s 15 bucks and it goes over ALL AP and give you small quizzes after each section then I believe it comes with 4 practice tests. I failed the HESI a couple times with a’s in everything but math and a high b in math, the AP portion just kept getting me and after boostprep I finally passed with a b in AP
You guys, stop wasting money on HESI study guides. They’re all BS. Just go to quizlet and type in HESI Anatomy and Physiology review. Look for the one with 299 terms (I couldn’t copy and paste the link from my phone). This is all I studied and made a 98 on the A&P portion. They have one for math on quizlet too. I got a 100 on that section. Take advantage of your free resources...especially quizlet.

How did you get a 98 on the A&P portion? There’s 25 graded questions. If you miss one you get a 96
