Hey everyone, just wanted to start a Fall 2018 page for Lone Star ADN/LVN future students!
It was pretty much what we read about NH. They did spend a lot of time on textbooks and the different packages, E-books vs Print. I'm still trying to figure out which way I'll go. If anyone else has thoughts about the textbooks I'd love to hear them.Montgomery was still finalizing clinical sites so there wasn't a lot of information about schedules. First 3 weeks will be M-F 0800-1700. There are 2 lecture days, one lab day (I would love if they were on a lecture day), and one clinical day a week. There are exams every 2 weeks and on those days we will come in earlier. 0800 vs 1000 (I think).
Uniforms are Navy scrubs, white lab coat, white LEATHER shoes. There was a thing saying no clogs... I need to clarify if that just means closed toe/heel would be okay or if they must have laces. They didn't really get much deeper on uniforms. i.e. watches etc.
There's a dosage calculation exam, pretty quick. It's a must pass exam or you will be dismissed from the program. I'm anxious to get the dosage calculation book to start learning. This will essentially be self taught and tutoring is available if needed.
I had to leave pretty quick as I had a flight to catch. I did also get clarified that if we have questions about planning our academics for BSN programs, we should speak to our nursing department NOT the LSC advising team.
What was the dosage calculations quiz like? I took pharmacology already, but some of the stuff I need to brush up on like IV infusion time. Was it simple stuff or what?
