Fall 2018 Lone Star Hopefuls

Hey everyone, just wanted to start a Fall 2018 page for Lone Star ADN/LVN future students!

The way I understand it is...when they get to your name and ranking...if there is a spot at your first choice you are placed at that location. If not they go to your second choice and so forth. If I am wrong, someone please correct me! Thanks

This is the way I understand it as well.

Once you are matched to a location that is it. If anyone at your first choice decides to not attend, an alternate will get that spot at your first choice and you will remain at your second choice. I do personally wish that second choices had that chance to get into their first choice, first, and then alternates fill in from there... but I can see how logistically that could be a nightmare. I think I actually asked about that in the seminar last year before I decided to move forward with going back to school... and was miffed about it then too... before I even knew my score would be right around my 1st choice cut off... lol.

I have Prof. Karr as well! I'm Heather and I'm on the second row, second seat from the end between Amber and Chrisl. Amber (who is hilarious anyway) teases me because I always nod my head like I'm having a private conversation with Dr. Karr. I can't seem to help it--I don't even realize I'm doing it half the time! So, yeah, look for the one always nodding her head like she's really important, lol. Becca, (hi!) told me to check out this forum. I'd been on the allnurses forum for UT HSC in the med center, but my application was denied.

My score is 7.84 and I'm applying to Tomball, then Montgomery, then CyFair.

Good luck to everyone! Hope we get acceptance letters sooner then later! @healthhopeful nice to meet you I'm in Dr.Karr's class also! I sit right by the sign in sheet and always have a my laptop and a Starbucks drink lol. How are you liking his class so far? I have an A in his class and I'm taking A&P 2 and have an A in that class also but I study like crazy. I hoping to end the semester with A's to boost up my GPA

Hello! I think we spoke after the last exam. I love his class and some of the stories he shares about being a pediatrician and the funny things parents say, think and do! Plus he makes the learning material so easy compared to how complicated it is in the book! I am also taking A&P 2, Phil 1301, Sociology 1301 and psych lifespan, growth and development this semester. His class and my A&P 2 class with Dr. Newsome are by far my favorites this semester. I also have to study like crazy for A&P 2, as well and so far (fingers crossed) I have A's in all of my classes.

I am also applying to Sam as they moved their entire nursing department to the Woodlands, but I won't find out until the middle of June on that one. There's a part of me that still wants to just go to lonestar because it's so much cheaper than Sam, and then pay for a bridge program while I'm working. At least I'll have all of my pre-reqs either way. :)

Is anyone on here applying for LVN as well as ADN? Do they send out both program acceptance letters at the same time? Just curious...

I read on another thread lvn letters went out first

But that was last year I believe

Anyone else finding it hard to stay focused in school when acceptance letters are coming out soon?? I'm going crazy :nailbiting: This is all I can think about lol
