Hey everyone, just wanted to start a Fall 2018 page for Lone Star ADN/LVN future students!
I think the cut off at Montgomery last year was in the 7.5's. A couple got in off the alternate list with lower scores. Our program is tough but the instructors want you to succeed. They are great about being there if you have any questions or need help. We have half a day of lecture Monday and Tuesday mornings and a test every other Monday. You have 2 half days of lab (either Mon/Wed or Tues/Thurs afternoon) and 1 day of clinical. This semester we are at St. Luke's and Conroe Regional for clinical (sometimes we have a specialty at a different facility). You have to stay on top of assignments and due dates. They expect you to keep up with them on your own. After we received acceptance letters, we started getting info for fingerprinting. You will get the info for all the documentation you need to submit. Sometime after that, we got the list of required books and a long list of reading to start on.
Hey everybody! I'm wrapping up my second semester is Montgomery's ADN program. If anyone has any questions about their program I'd be happy to answer them if I can! I remember going crazy waiting for them to send out the acceptance emails! Good luck!!
What an awesome offer to help with questions -- thank you!
I'm wondering about uniforms. I've applied to only Cy-Fair, and I know they are the only block program, so I know the answer may be slight different. Nevertheless, how many uniforms is a reasonable number to acquire? Do you wear them only to cliniclas or to all classes and labs as well?
They transferred my psych but not developmental psych also. development was transferred in as a general Education course. The counselor said it counts as an elective..crazy!!!
It is crazy! They only transferred in 73 of my 120 credits! 18 of those 73 credits are Gen. Education credits! Not a single one of my history courses transferred, only 2 of my 4 English courses, Only 1 of my 2 Chemistry courses... and with psych they only transferred my Gen Psych, and turned my 6cr of Psychology of Human Development I and II into 3cr of Psych Life/Growth. I didn't worry too much about them right now, but I need to ensure I have completed courses that count towards BSN admission... I should probably sit with them and find out what it going on...
We wear scrubs to lab and clinical.
Are there any specifications as to the Navy scrubs, i.e. brand/styles (if it is still navy)? I'm pretty tall so I'm hoping I'll be able to have time to look for a pair of pants that fit correctly. They don't really have any information in the handbook...
So every school is different, very different. I again only speak for Nh and the schedule can always change. We had a weird schedule because of harvey also. So that being said, we have lecture 2 days a week, a lab, and a clinic day. Lecture is two hours usually with a small break. Lab is three hours long, a break if you ask. Clinic is 8 hours and we get a lunch break. Sometimes lecture goes all day on Friday s but it is rare. Sometimes lab and lecture are back to back, just depends on your individual schedule. So if you are breastfeeding, you will have some challenges but it's doable. I'm not too sure how you would refrigerate milk but I'm sure you could figure that out. However, the first three weeks are hectic. They have a bunch of things to orient you to at first, so plan on being there a long time at first.Oh also there are a few girls who just had babies during the break, so I'm sure they have had women need private rooms before.
Thank you so much!

I would also love to know what the cutoff score was at Montgomery last fall, class schedule, do they send out any info for orientation/supplies with acceptance letter? Is conroe regional the furthest north we may need to travel?
