Hey everyone, just wanted to start a Fall 2018 page for Lone Star ADN/LVN future students!
Can I ask you...what does your schedule look like at Lonestar?I want to see how many days a week I would need my mom's help with my baby and if I would be able to continue breastfeeding while going to nursing school.
I would like to know too! I'm breastfeeding my son and wanna know hours and days!

I asked a lactation nurse what the law was on pumping at school -- basically, the school has to provide us a private room with a sink (not a restroom) and they have to let us pump whenever we need to. Just thought I'd let you know in case you were planning on pumping while at school!

Thank you!!!
I saw something on another thread and to the best of my recollection, it was something along the lines of, Class 2 days a week 9-12ish and a lab one day in the afternoon. Then there is a clinical day. The schedule for 1st yr and 2nd yr sounded like they were on different days to allow instructors the time to be at clinical/lab, & classroom for both years students. When I went to the info session I heard 3 days a week on campus as well, I believe. I wrote it down but I don't have it on me. I also had heard that our first few weeks may be 5 days a week to prepare for clinicals somewhere around week 3? Does anyone know if they send out all the info for orientation etc along with the decision? I really hope so! I think I'm just as anxious for the ancillary information as I am to know the decision. *Again, this is all based on recollection*

Hello everyone! I'm just now finding this thread for some reason, and am glad for all the helpful info so far.
I actually completed the first semester of an LVN program up in Louisville, KY during Fall 2017. However, we had to relocate here in December due to my husband's job. So now I'll be starting over. And instead of going the LVN-RN route, I went ahead & applied to the ADN RN program that starts in Fall.
One of the surprisingly difficult things so far has been trying to get Lone Star to actually transfer in my classes. They were transferring in the 1st part of a course, but not any successive ones- the class would just go on my record as "General Education Credit". Pretty absurd, because this meant Anat-Physio 1 showed up, but AP II wasn't listed by name; Med Terminology I shows up, but not Med. Term II; Psychology, but not Developmental Psych, etc.
I was pretty shocked by this, because it seems unethical. I mean, it was hard enough to pull A's in some of these classes, and I cant afford to pay and take them all again! Luckily, I found an administrator who did fix some of the classes (though some are still missing).
Has anyone else experienced issues with transferring in classes at Lone Star?
I took my Hesi at the end of Feb, and got a 94 avg. (88 on AP, 92 on math, 880 CT) So my overall application score was 7.76.
Do you guys think that's a competitive enough score for admission?
I'm looking at taking Microbio this summer to get it out of the way also.
Thanks!

So every school is different, very different. I again only speak for Nh and the schedule can always change. We had a weird schedule because of harvey also. So that being said, we have lecture 2 days a week, a lab, and a clinic day. Lecture is two hours usually with a small break. Lab is three hours long, a break if you ask. Clinic is 8 hours and we get a lunch break. Sometimes lecture goes all day on Friday s but it is rare. Sometimes lab and lecture are back to back, just depends on your individual schedule. So if you are breastfeeding, you will have some challenges but it's doable. I'm not too sure how you would refrigerate milk but I'm sure you could figure that out. However, the first three weeks are hectic. They have a bunch of things to orient you to at first, so plan on being there a long time at first.
Oh also there are a few girls who just had babies during the break, so I'm sure they have had women need private rooms before.

Does anyone know how the class schedule differs if you have everything done except for your nursing classes? I am finishing up this summer with micro and pharm. Thanks :)
