Fall 2018 Lone Star Hopefuls

Published

Hey everyone, just wanted to start a Fall 2018 page for Lone Star ADN/LVN future students!

It was great to meet you today Ang. Who knew we were in the same Micro class? I wonder who else is? :specs: Anyone else have Prof. Karr for Med Microbiology this semester?

Likewise! I'm excited to see what happens and go to class to talk about it lol. We can finish out the rest of that lengthy admission process together if we all get in :)

Rslorificen I have Karr too! I always sit right up front by the sign in sheet lol.

I'm one of the 2 black girls in the back lmao. What did ya'll think of this exam?

It was pretty easy for me honestly! But I also study 10 plus hours a week. I have to study a lot or I don't do well at all. What did you think about it?

Parts were pretty easy and some parts were hard but I didn't study much because of family health issues that have been unrelenting lately so this may be the one that I drop. :( We'll find out in a couple days.

The last test is my drop test for sure!

Will you guys be taking any other courses this summer? I'm currently on my last 2, Micro & Statistics.

hey guys, i applied to lonestar for fall 2018 ADN program and i have a score of 7.68. does anyone know when we should start expecting an answer?

I had a look at last year's Lone Star ADN program Hopefuls (Fall 2017), and they were notified on Monday, April 17, 2017. So, if it's going to be similar, perhaps we would be notified on Monday, April 16, 2018. That's my best guess.

Hi everyone!

A little late to the forum...I too applied for the Fall 2018 cycle. I have a score of 7.696 with my choices in order: Cyfair, North Harris and Tomball. Last year I was accepted into the North Harris Fall 2017 program. However, I found out I was pregnant a month before the program started and decided to withdraw to have my baby :)

My score last year was a 7.23. I retook my English course and was able to significantly improve my score. I hope it's enough to get into Cyfairs program.

Looking forward to meeting all of you! I'm sure we'll all get accepted! All of y'all have great scores!

I do have a question, if not accepted to Cyfair, do I still have a chance of being accepted to North Harris' program? Does anyone know how they go about selecting students for admittance into their second or third school of choice?

That's a really great score! I would imagine that you will get in to your first choice. I was told that Cy-Fair typically accepts 50 students (but the Spring 2018 class was 60 students because of the water damage at Kingwood from Hurricane Harvey). NH accepts more than that -- 100 or more from what I can recall. It's all based on scores, and if there are 50 people ahead of your score who also applied at Cy-Fair, then it would seem you have a greater chance at NH because they accept more. But I really think your score will get you in at Cy-Fair!

Ang, I'm sure what else to take. I'm in Micro and Pharmacology right now. I've done Gen Psych, humanities and sociology. I'm planning on "hopefully" doing the Lonestar BSN program when it gets fully approved but I don't know what classes they will want. I may take my second english class and maybe a couple more. I'm not sure what though. Will statistics be one of them?

I'm taking

8-wk Hybrid APII right now

6-Wk Summer 1 Micro

6-wk Summer 2 Pharmacology

I already have a degree and had began as a pre-nursing student so I only need to refresh my science courses. I already have all my psych, sociology, etc. I'm still evaluating what I may need to do for my BSN. I may need to refresh Chemistry (ugh) and add Texas History as that wasn't required for my Bachelor degree in Ohio, understandably. If so, that will probably be next summer.

I was thinking of taking a Pharmocology class this summer but I decided to wait to see if I get into the program or not. I pray I do I worked my butt off for my 7.408.
