Fall 2018 Lone Star Hopefuls

Published

Hey everyone, just wanted to start a Fall 2018 page for Lone Star ADN/LVN future students!

I was wondering if anyone knows what the cut off scores to get in were last Application period at North Harris and Montgomery?

I went to an info sesh at NH today and Mrs. Juanita said that the cutoff was a 7.02 last year. She also said that it was the first time NH sent out denial letters. She said that in the past 5 years the cutoff score has progressively climbed. She anticipates that the cutoff may be a little higher or about the same as last year because she already has a bunch of applications and there are still 2 more weeks until the deadline. She really went into detail and explained how the schedules are going to be and everything.

Hello all, I just submitted my application for ADN Fall18 but seeing everyone's high scores has me alittle bummed but keeping my faith that there might be a chance.

I got a 93 on my hesi

930 on Critical Thinking

A- Engl 1301

B- Biol 2402

Ending score= 7.07

Applied to Cy,NH,M

Good Luck to Everyone!! & Great Job to all of us for even getting to this point. For many of us this is already a big step.

What was your GPA, shouldn't you have a 3.5 between the 2 courses? Your score should be higher right?

It also goes by that A&P is worth 4 credits and English is worth 3. Its not just an even average of the 2 class grades.

So a B in A&P is 3x4credits=12

A in engl is 4x3cred=12

Then u take the total of the 2 classes (24) and divide by amount of credits total. 24/7cred=3.4286

** i also made a B in anatomy/A english and realized this when i thought i had a 3.5 avg but then the application said a lower score :(

Hi there! I'm in the process of submitting an application to the ADN program, and I have one component that is holding me back. In June 2017, I discovered that I had never been vaccinated against Hep B, so I began the full series in July (month 0 = July, month 1 = August, month 6 = January 2018). Four weeks after the 3rd vaccine, I went in for the titer. It came back negative, but there were no numbers listed. I had specifically asked for the quantitative titer, and doc ordered another titer. I got a phone call today in which I was told negative again, but without the numbers. With whom or where do you all get your quantitative titers done? I was ready to apply in August, but the Hep B stopped me. Now, the deadline is approaching again, and I would love to avoid taking the HESI again.

@Rnvaleria I went to "lab test now". It was pricy though. I didn't have much knowledge about any other clinics with better prices.

@RNValerie, is there any way you can contact Lab Corp directly? I think most, if not all, blood work is sent to lab corp. If they can't help, then Express Family Clinic does quantitative titers for $25.

Thanks for your suggestions. I will start by checking with LabCorp, as they are the ones who did the titers in June, February and March!

I still need my titer too. I got my last shot at the new New Caney location a few weeks ago, and the lady there said I only had to wait 3 days to get a titer... but I've been waiting longer because the Conroe location said it had to be a few weeks.

By "location" I mean the Express Family Clinic locations

I did request a test.com. It was about 50 to 60 bucks. I received my results through email. Mine came back non immune last year because I never took my hep b shot series so that was a waste.

So after my last shot do I have to wait 3 days to take the immunity test?

Does anyone know if it's possible for an application to still be considered if the hesi is taken after the hesi deadline but before the overall application deadline?

This is the only program that requires the hesi to be less than 1 yr old and that has a separate hesi deadline!
