Fall 2018 Lone Star Hopefuls

Published

Hey everyone, just wanted to start a Fall 2018 page for Lone Star ADN/LVN future students!

Does anyone know if it's possible for an application to still be considered if the hesi is taken after the hesi deadline but before the overall application deadline?

This is the only program that requires the hesi to be less than 1 yr old and that has a separate hesi deadline!

I would call the director of the nursing program and ask them directly. Everywhere I've looked says today is the last day to take it.

@West7714 I know, right? After getting the 1st titer in June, I decided that was a waste.

I was told seven months:

month 0 = 1st vaccine

month 1 = 2nd vaccine

month 6 = 3rd vaccine

month 7 = titer

OMG! I didn't know you had to wait a whole month to take the titer. Damn. Now I'm starting to stress out. I take my last shot on the 13th of this month í ½í¸”

Below is the link where I got the info about the Hep B series taking seven months (within the paragraph that begins with "PLEASE NOTE: CDC guidelines...").

Immunity and Health Records

Maybe you can ring up the people who are giving you the vaccines? I know a student who is currently in the 1st semester of the nursing program, and last year, she told me about an accelerated vaccine schedule (something about a travel vaccine schedule?). She said it was expensive but she chose that schedule because she wanted to begin in January '18.

Perhaps the place you've been going for the vaccines knows of a schedule like that?

Does anyone know how Summer financial aid works? Is it grouped with 2018-2019 financial aid or this past 2017-2018 cycle?

I heard you have to do a new FASFA for summer but. I could be wrong. I think the office is open tomorrow morning.

From my understanding, the school year ends with summer, so summer of 2018 should be grouped with 2017-2018 school year.

I'm wrapping up my first FA application (that's due before April 1, 2018) for fall 2018 financial aid. Now I wonder if I will need to fill out a new one for spring 2019 as well...

I am currently doing the accelerated version of hep b. the schedule is dose1- at 0 days, dose 2- at 7 days and dose 3 at 21-28 days. I got it at lodestar clinic in conroe. It was 100 for the first one and the other 2 are only 20.

Oh, that is awesome! When I first heard about this, it was in November last year. If I'd known about this option in June, I would have done the accelerated version and applied to begin in January 2018.

Good luck to you!

You'll just submit the negative titer and proof of having the shots. I am only on dose 2, but doing the fast track which is less than 6-7 months. You'll need the positive titer by the first day of school in the fall.

Thank you so much ☺️! I was getting worried

I'm waiting for my A&P to officially update on my transcript to apply. I'll update the list when I have the official score from the application but it should be a 7.568. I'm currently planning on M, T, NH, C... subject to reordering. I'm so nervous that after all my hard work getting the 4.0, something will happen on a technicality with my application (like Hep B). I will be so glad when this is all over and I just have to stress out about school itself.
