Fall 2013 FSCJ Nursing Student Hopefuls

U.S.A. Florida

Hey everyone! Wanted to go ahead and start a thread for our group. I've been following the spring and summer 2013 group a little and figured it might be a good idea to get focused for the fall 2013 group. I've completed all my prerequisites and took my NAT test. Got a 107 on the test and I'm sitting at a 93 will all the prerequisites. So I'm going into the application process with a 203. Does anyone know what the general cut off is? I'm a bit nervous but I'm sure everyone else is too. The only thing I haven't completed is the CPR. I read once that this can be done after acceptance into the program...is that true? Thanks everyone! Can't wait to start chatting!

Nenepoppz I am sitting in the same boat that you are. I take the NAT on the 8th and need to score pretty high. I am sitting at 98 points for grades. I have looked at a couple of the previous semester boards on the NAT and they all seem to say focus on speed, I got the prep book from the book store and the math seems pretty intense as far as time. Pretty basic math but most of the practice test have 20 word problems with 15 minutes to complete them which seems almost impossible for me to finish when I time myself. As far as science review there is so much in the book it is almost overwhelming, would anyone know how in dept the questions for science actually are, I have read that there is not much anatomy but more chemistry and biology. Here are a couple links I found online with extra practice.

Any suggestions please send them my way!! Thanks!!! Good Luck to everyone!!

Turned in my ADN application last week! I have a friend who got in for summer with a total of 176 points. Let the waiting begin..

Hello everyone!

I just turned my application in with 189 points! I'm very anxious. I hope we all get in!! :)

Finished NAT today yay!!! Now the waiting begins. Applied with a total of 192. Fingers crossed!!

I mailed in my application weeks ago, does anyone know if there's a way to make sure it was received? I emailed mrs James but I got no response...

It is very hard to get in touch with her, I would send another email and try calling.

@Emmy_skittles you could go to the north campus and see if they have you're application.

They're usually nice and willing to help you out.

I was wondering if anyone who is enrolling in the fall lives in the mandarin area, and would be interested in carpooling because north campus is uber far away for us mandarin dwellers.

Mtrescot, Congrats on your score. Soooo, what did you think about the Nat? Any tips you can provide now that you have tackled the storm? I also purchaed the Nat study book from the bookstore and was a little speechless at how thick it was. My sister is a Nurse, she went to UNF and her Teas book is so much thinner. I was thinking to myself, where do I start. I better hurry up though, I only have a couple of more weeks to go before I miss the deadline. Yikes.

Hello Nenepoppz,

The study guide will only mess you up and is way beyond the difficulty level of the test. Overall, the material on the NAT is not bad at all. You just really have to watch your times. For the reading section there are 3 passages to read and 40 questions all in 15 minutes. The science and academic appitude sections are 90 questions in 30 minutes I believe. As far as review, I have been told by a couple of people that the HESI and TEAS reviews are the best material for the NAT. I am not sure though. Hope this helps. Good Luck

Honestly the study book helped a bit but was way too in dept. Focus on speed for math. Math and vocab are combined in a section and there is not to much time to work out anything. Vocab was easy just pick out the word that does not belong with the others don't leave anything blank if you find yourself spending more then twenty seconds on a problem just guess and move on.

As far as science completely ignore the chemistry section from the book its too indept for what was on the exam. Only chemistry i had was based on ph the rest is Mostly basic biology and bit anatomy those sections from the booked i think helped me. Dont stress that was my biggest problem, you will be fine just remember you have done it all before. good luck!! Let me know how it goes!!

Hi Everyone, I am very nervous about applying for the RN program for the fall. I have 120 points for grades and 66 points for the Nat. I plan to take the Nat over May 31, 2013 and submit my application right after I finish taking the Nat. I have been studying hard to get 20 extra points on the Nat which will give me 200 points. I have 186.57 as of now. I really need some friends who can relate to me throughout the process. Thanks
