Fall 2013 FSCJ Nursing Student Hopefuls

U.S.A. Florida

Hey everyone! Wanted to go ahead and start a thread for our group. I've been following the spring and summer 2013 group a little and figured it might be a good idea to get focused for the fall 2013 group. I've completed all my prerequisites and took my NAT test. Got a 107 on the test and I'm sitting at a 93 will all the prerequisites. So I'm going into the application process with a 203. Does anyone know what the general cut off is? I'm a bit nervous but I'm sure everyone else is too. The only thing I haven't completed is the CPR. I read once that this can be done after acceptance into the program...is that true? Thanks everyone! Can't wait to start chatting!

Hey guys ! Does anyone know if there is any possible way to get an extension for the physicals and titers? I have everything else done but I'm having a hard time making the deadline for that. Also, I'm thinking about starting a Facebook page for us all to use to keep in touch if that is cool with everyone else .

I think I'll be finishd with all my medical stuff this week but still working on my WorkSource stuff as well...hopefully I will be completed by the time orientation comes around. Yes the Facebook idea sounds like a good idea

What is going on with the WorkSource, I need to get on that as well... Do I just take the letter to their office on campus?

I just went and picked up my packet today since I've been out of town and holy crap! So much to do! Luckily my doctor had an appointment available for tomorrow for shots and a physical. I'm so excited!

Has anyone started ordering the uniforms yet? I am worried about the sizing since we have to order them online???

There is a application to complete and then interviews, etc before they let you know if you qualify for the scholarship

Re: Worksource - after you apply online, you will take two assessments (1.5 and 3.5 hours long), gather up some paperwork, call and make an appt. for an interview (this is where I am in the process. My interview is next week and I'm not sure what comes next).

Re: Medicals/ I had a question about titers/shots and left a message for Dr Seabrook last week. She called me back today. My question was "can I forgo the titers and just get the shots and provide proof?" The answer was, no. I was instructed to get the titers, and then the doc would decide whether I needed boosters and would make that notation on the FSCJ paperwork. Dr Seabrook went on to say that the hospitals require us to have titers and if we get shots without titers first, then we can't get titers for a few months and if we can't get titers we won't be able to start the program in the Fall. SO GLAD SHE CALLED ME TODAY because I went to the health dept last week to get shots (thankfully, they were closing for the day and wouldn't see me). I went back this morning and they had a two hour wait so I decided to pay a little more and scheduled an appointment with Century for Wednesday! If I had not received this info, I would be out for Fall... just like that! Based on this information and her telling me I wouldn't be able to start in the Fall if I got shots without titers, I don't believe they will allow for any extensions.

Re: Uniforms/ I am a small 16 and ordered an XL top thinking I'd have plenty of room in there to move around seeing as how Meridy's website claims their tops run big. Well, that isn't my experience and the top is, in fact, SNUG. I will need to return it for a 2X. I went to the uniform outlet over on Beach/University and picked up some inexpensive white pants for $14 that fit nicely.

Anyone know what the R.N. kit is? It doesn't give much info other than it's 93 dollars.

This list, btw, is from a 2010 post. My fiancé graduated from FCCJ's program in 2004ish and they had the same kit back then so I don't imagine it's different.

The RN kit is the same. I got mine last week. They try to sell you other stuff but medisave.net has stethoscope and bp cuff cheaper with free engraving. The bp cuff is only $10 at medisave

Thank you for the info. I emailed her today to make sure I what I turned in was ok, I had titters but had to get the TDAP shot because I only had the TD shot 2 years ago.

What stethoscope did you get? I am thinking just to invest in the Littman Cardiology III...
