Fall 2013 FSCJ Nursing Student Hopefuls

Published

Hey everyone! Wanted to go ahead and start a thread for our group. I've been following the spring and summer 2013 group a little and figured it might be a good idea to get focused for the fall 2013 group. I've completed all my prerequisites and took my NAT test. Got a 107 on the test and I'm sitting at a 93 will all the prerequisites. So I'm going into the application process with a 203. Does anyone know what the general cut off is? I'm a bit nervous but I'm sure everyone else is too. The only thing I haven't completed is the CPR. I read once that this can be done after acceptance into the program...is that true? Thanks everyone! Can't wait to start chatting!

Sam

I heard a few people say their schedules were like this:

mon: testing (about 3 hours)

tues - classes all day

Wed- clinicals (all day)

thurs - classes (half or all day)

friday - off

i think the actual days vary but this is what i have seen as the basic first semester day schedule

Hi hmarie2013,

Thanks for this information. I like this schedule, not the 3 hour testing days though, yikes. Now I see why people stress, that is enough to scare anyone.

Hi Beatrice91,

You never know. Keep your head up, you never know what could happen. I scored below you, so that should lift your spirits. Everyone didn't score over 200, just remember that. We just have to work a little harder. Re-take your Nat, like I plan to do, change that frown upside down and prepare as much as you can for whatever you can. Stick to the subject you scored lowest in and try to kick butt in that. You can do it because I plan too ;)

HI Nenpoppz!! thanks for the encouragement. :) I am sorry to hear that you scored below me. I will definitely work harder. I just don't know exactly what to study for the science section because it is so broad that you never know what will be on it. The main things that I reviewed over in Anatomy and Biology was not on the test. Do you have any suggestions on how I can prepare for the science and arithmetic sections?

Hi Beatrice91,

Don't be sorry, I'm not:up:. It just gives me the motivation I need to work harder and prove to myself that I can do it. I really don't have any tips. I have a tutor and there are a few books that I found in the bookstore that I plan on buying. There was an Anatomy and Physiology book for Dummies and a Biology for dummies, LOL. I plan on doing everything I know how to prepare, because like you said there really isn't a way to study because the questions cover so much. But hey, it can be done because so many people have done so well. I am not strong in Science, some people are. A friend of mine scored really high in the science section but scored bad in reading comprehension. I kicked butt in the Reading Comprehension so we all have our strong areas.

Nenepoppz, that is the spirit to have!!! Keep that up and you will be in the nursing program in no time. :) You are right, we all have our strengths and weaknesses. I scored in the 98th percentile on the reading but in the 59th percentile on the science. I also scored low in arithmetic, so i got my work cut out for me from now to September. I plan on retaking the NAT sometime around the end of September.

Anyone hear any news about when we should get letters? Since the deadline to apply was changed to June 1st I am thinking it will be closer to August 1st.

Nicole, I haven't heard anything about letters going out. Looking at prior posts from Fall 2012 FSCJ Nursing they got their letters the first week of July. I would hope they do the same this year. We need time to get physicals, background checks, etc. before orientation. Thanks and good luck to everyone. I keep checking mailbox everyday!!!!

I got my acceptance letter today. I got in. Congrats to all that get in and if you didnt keep trying because I didnt get in my last try.

Congrats to you :) and thanks for letting us know!
