Fall 2020 El Centro Nursing Program Applicants

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hey Everyone!

I wanted to start a new thread for Fall 2020 applicants at El Centro, since I didn't find one already here. Let's see if we can help eachother out and answer some questions for eachother. Currently, I have 35 points, but will be applying with about 40, I believe. I'm wondering if that is competitive? Also, I need to get my physical, titers, and vaccines, but don't have health insurance. Any ideas where I can get them done at a decent price? I found a website but I am not sure if they will accept stuff from there....

I’m sure if I’m not able to PM you or not but I’m not seeing the option anywhere.

If you google 'el centro education plan', it pops up.

I thought Biol 1406 was a pre req for a&p(biol 2401). Unless you took it at another school... Maybe I'm just not seeing it, but I dont see biol 1406 listed anywhere on the packet, anyway. Did you take Pharmacology at another school? I emailed him today and asked him if I needed to have my transcript evaluated and need to submit an Education Plan Request, even though I've only ever attended DCCCD. He said yes. I also emailed the dean about my pathophysiology class(HPRS) that I took during the summer before they changed the packet, which changed it to RNSG) and she said it would be decided on an individual basis when they review applications/transcripts. I can fwd you the Education Plan paperwork if you'd like. If that's even allowed on this site? I'm not sure of the rules here. Hope this helps! ?

So how are we supposed to turn this in? Are we supposed to put it in an envelope after filling everything out and turn it into the paramount building? Also are we supposed to turn in a transcript along with this even though we've only attended DCCCD?

At the bottom, it has directions to either drop it in person or mail it to the paramount building.

So I'm guessing just the printed paper that we fill out and that's it?

I wanted to know if I still needed to take biology 1406 after I’ve already taken both A&Ps. And if they still took my pharmacology even tho it didn’t match the same exact course number.

In regards to BIOL 1406, if you have already taken AP 1 & 2 already or transferred these classes in and El Centro accepted, you do NOT have to take BIOL 1406 because AP 1 and 2 supercede that. I went through this over the summer. DCCCD made me spend money I didn't have to by taking BIOL 1406 and I had already taken AP 1 and 2 already. The only other reason i can see you needing to take BIOL 1406 after the fact is if another nursing program you are applying specifically asks for that class to be completed. The system does not recognize that you have already taken these classes so that's why it will say you need to still take BIOL 1406. Have an advisor fix that for you. They fixed it for me in my situation. As far as your pharmacology, get a educational plan to make sure they will still accept the class.

Oh wow thank you so much you guys are so helpful! Sorry you had to take it and waste money. I was just gonna test out of it since I don’t have time to take the class.

That's another option as well. If you can just test out of it, you can get credit for that class and not worry about having to take that class. I took a 4-week biology course-never again!

Yeah I don’t blame you especially since it was for nothing!

So where does everyone live? I live almost an hour away from Dallas.
