Fall 2014 Baptist School of Health Professions San Antonio

Published

I am looking for info on the acceptance rate on the RN program for BSHP, or average TEAS scores that are accepted into the program. I applied for the Fall 2014 and I will be taking my TEAS soon. Any information or if anyone else applying???

@reneemorg I would definitely be interested in the Foundations book. I'll be in the fall PM program.

From what I remember in orientation is that we will get something like a book voucher to purchase books. My financial aid award had to be signed and completed by today (July 7). I have already started to purchase my scrubs. @ReneeMorg was there a particular stethoscope that was required/suggested?

Milspouse- I thought they said we don't get book money and don't wait to buy them.

Reneemorg- I downloaded the app,, can u tell me how to import notes

The school usually has a package deal with Littmann stethoscopes. I think they pass an order sheet out during Student Success/Orientation

There is no suggested or required one. I bought the package, but if youre strapped for cash, dont beat yourself up.Only suggestion is get a lightweight one. I bought a littmann master cardiology one and goodness gracious trucking it around my neck or in my pocket for 6+ hours is annoying.

Do you have access to Moodle yet?

If not, practice using just a saved document.

1.)Email the document to yourself,

2.) open it up on your ipad gmail app

3.) Bottom right corner, click the square with the arrow that gives you the option to open the document in Safari. Click that

4.)Once the document opens in safari at the top of the page it will say "Open in".. click that and you should see the option for Notability

Click that and the app will open up and start the import process

@ ReneeMorg For Project Quest do you have to sign a contract saying in return for assistance you will work in Bexar county for at least 2 years after graduation?

When I interviewed for QUEST, I don't recall there being a requirement. I know they said they may contact you after graduation to see you got a job and what not, but I dont specifically remember anything being contingent that you work for the county.

I use a binder and print out the lecture outlines. There will probably be a fair amount of printing because the lecture outlines are so helpful. When we get lectured, most of the teachers are going through slides and it can get pretty fast. The library's computer lab has printing capability but it costs 10 cents per page, and some of the outlines can be every long...so if you can print elsewhere for free ..do so. If youre someone that doesnt need the actual paper - you can download the lecture outlines onto your laptop and just bring that to class to type in during class.

I used my ipad religiously during school. If any of you have an ipad, I HIGHLY recommend the app 'Noteability". You can import the outline in the app, record lecture and write on the tablet all at the same time. Most days, I simply brought my ipad and book to class, then used my binder with the outlines when studying at home.

During the first semester the teachers were very good about printing out the outlines for you :)

FINANCIAL AID: For first semester students, aid is disbursed after about 30 days of class. I had to pay half of tuition and then I was notified my grant would cover the rest. But if you have aid that will cover everything I do not think youll be required to pay anything other than the $300 matriculation fee. But with that said, you will probably need to come out of pocket for your books, because you wont have time to wait until aid disburses. They hit the ground running once the semester starts.

*I have a Foundations Book should anyone need a copy. Hopefully its the same one *

There is a program called " Project QUEST" that a lot of my friends are involved with that helps them with financial costs of school including scrubs, shoes, tools, and books so if any of you are interested the website is Project QUEST, Inc.

:)

Noteability rocks! I am also a student at BSHP and I highly recommend this.

How do you guys feel about binding your books? Is that a good idea? It seems like it would be so much easier when carrying around a bunch of books. Do the professors usually stay on track with the syllabus?

Do you guys know when we will get a class schedule? And has anyone found out the date for financial aid payment?

They said we"ll find out about it during success day and even then we might not get the schedule but we'll know how the first day of school will look.
