Fairfield University Accelerated Nursing 2016

U.S.A. Connecticut

Hey!!

There was no thread for this so thought I would get it started!

I just got accepted into the program starting in June!

Anyone else get accepted or any people who are in the program have some insight or reviews??

Hope to hear from you guys soon :)

Audrey

I am a CT native and I lived with my parents during the program. The commute was about 45-50 mins which wasn't terrible, but it only took one school bus to ruin my morning. From what I gathered, people fell into specific categories:

- People who live at home (there were a bunch of us, either living with parents or they were moms/dads with their own families)

- People who moved and lived in Fairfield

- I think only one person actually lived on campus, but she is a Fairfield alumni

I don't know if Fairfield officially helps with housing like a service or anything but I know the staff would definitely help with information and suggestions at the very least. I think most of the people live in Fairfield, I know there were a couple groups of people who were roommates in houses off campus but I'm not sure if they knew eachother prior or just organized something.

Hi FUstudent610 I am applying to Fairfield right now and have two prereqs with B-'s do you think ***** will make me take these over.

It depends on the course. It depends on your grades. I can't possibly know. I retook some of my courses because I wanted to be competitive.

Thank you

Hi Again! I wanted to come on and ask how the program went for you? Also, thank you again for helping me with the application process. I didn't hear back from the school yet because Carol said she would make a decision after this semester grades, but hopefully I get in! I have good grades so far, but A&P1 is making me nervous because I am right at a B, and I am not sure if she will accept it if I end up getting a B-. UConns final exam is worth 30% of our grade which sucks. How was the NCLEX and the job search going for you? I talked to a lot of nurses, and they all say that you will have no problem finding a job. Anyways, if I don't hear from you soon. Hope you have a great Christmas fustudent610!

The nclex was fair. I passed in 75. FU did a great job of getting us the knowledge, and of course kaplan helped. But kaplan questions were way more complicated, while most nclex questions were just a sentence or so. So the strategies, decision tree, all that didn't feel necessary. But the topics were spot on! And kaplan prepped me well for sata, which was at least half my test. And there's nothing wrong with over prepared. I wrote about my experience in the nclex forum if you're interested. The questions were honestly nothing special.

The job search.... It's not as easy as people make it out to be. Most people got jobs where they did their capstones, but the va is hard to get in. I interviewed with Yale two days ago so fingers crossed! But for me job hunting is like its own nclex.

Thank you for the kind words, it sounds like we both find out our fates around the same time. Best of luck, and happy holidays!

Hi

Can anyone tell me the typical school hours for this program? I want to be better prepared for my family. Thanks

Hey everyone!

Just wanted to reach out as well and say that I am a recently accepted person for the 2017 June start Fairfield University absn program. I am so excited to begin this new Journey and wondering if anyone is beginning it with me?

I definitely have been looking over some previous postings in seeing some comments from the previous 2016 class and was wondering what are people's thoughts about the program? Or how about managing life work in the program. I am also wondering if it is possible to work while being in the program?

I am someone who is a resident of Massachusetts and will be moving to Fairfield hopefully before the program begins and wondering if anyone is looking for a roommate or maybe people who already have roommates maybe to look into something as well.

It should be an amazing experience we all have ahead of us and hope to hear from someone soon!

Hello Audrey I also just got accepted as well and I'm so excited for the June start :-)

Are you a local resident in CT or are you from a different state?

I have heard so many amazing things about this program and hopefully we can get a string of people to connect with us baby just know before orientation in April.

Hope to hear back !

Catherine

Hello!! I recently got accepted into the program too. I have so much questions about the program! How far away does everyone live? What does the classroom to clinical days/hours look like? Thanks everyone!
