Failed again x3

Published

Hello to everyone, I failed boards again for the 3rd time. I took Kaplan thinking it was go help but again another failure. I don't know where to go from here and all I do is cry. I am neglecting my children by not spending time with them. I don't know what to do or how to start. I prayed each time and still not doing good. I took 265 everytime and still bad news. Can someone that been in my shoes give some good study advice. It's costly to retake especially if it's just you finacially. Someone please help. During nursing school I been through alot, I lost my husband but I went back and graduated. It's been a year and all my classmates working and happy. I am so depressed about my results, that I feel like it's not for me. But than I say if it wasn't for me I wouldn't made it to graduate. Help please.

hi ER-RN2009! i too would like to know how you passed. i too failed 3x and am trying to find a good way to study and how to try to figure out how to answer these questions. my last two times ive taken the nclex ive gone to 265 questions...a very long test i must say. but if you could, please help me too! thanks!

I can't tell you much cause i'm in the same boat as you. An advisor at my school did a learning assessment to see what type of learner I was, and i did it and found out how to study and I can say it's helping. But like most people on this site say to read Saunder's and it's a good book. So maybe you should find out how you learn best to help you this time around. I hope this little clue helps. I too took the whole 265 questions. I wasn't below average in any areas but approaching average so that's kinda a helper to see where you stand.

I passed the NCLEX with the minimum questions but really feel that using the Hurst online review ($300) and the Saunders CD was the most beneficial. I completed 1700 questions on the CD, did all the questions on the Hurst online, listened carefully to the Hurst, made notes. I made studying my job for two weeks prior to my test. Went over the priority and delegations sections 3 times since I had heard that these were hot topics on the NCLEX. Wanted to start thinking the NCLEX way so tried real in these areas for sure. So glad I did, cause I truly feel that it paid off.

You can get the Saunders book/CD off half.com or ebay for pretty reasonable price.

The Saunders CD is the only thing I used to take my LPN test almost two years ago & I felt like that test was a breeze.

The RN was a little harder for me but due to more critical thinking type questions. On the priority questions I just looked at each answer and thought to myself who is the most critical, who just got out of surgery, who is bleeding too much for the procedure/injury, who is at risk of dying here and who can wait for my immediate attention. Remember to use the ABC's as well but this may not always be the case. If I was going to have to guess I tried to use the ABC's and maslows.

On delegation questions just think about the scope of practice for an aide and remembering that the RN does the initial assessment and reassessment for things like critical blood sugars.

Taking my time with each question and asking myself what are they wanting to know?

Hope this helps someone out there. Dont give up the test is only as hard as you make it.

Wow that's real good tips and a good way to look at the test asking yourself those questions. Thank you so much and i'll keep you all posted when this storm is over.

I failed four times! I've been very depressed. I cried a river everytime but I will never give up! And you must not too!

I started with the basics AGAIN.

Let's memorize the normal values, the developmantal milestones, the risk factors, the pharma, arrrgh and whatsoever!!!!

i know that money is an issue here too. I cant afford to enroll in Kaplan again. I found this link. And this is what I've been using now. It's free!

the First thing you have to do is NOT to hard on yourself.

dont give up. you WILL pass this test. I am also a re-peat test taker and you can read my many pages of anti-nclex rants posted here. the nclex is simply a poorly constructed, ireelevant test that measures nothing about you as a person or nurse.

trust me, i know its hard now, but on that day when you pass, all that pain and sorrow goes away instantly when you see your name on that website.

i wish the best for you.
