Failed again x3

Published

Hello to everyone, I failed boards again for the 3rd time. I took Kaplan thinking it was go help but again another failure. I don't know where to go from here and all I do is cry. I am neglecting my children by not spending time with them. I don't know what to do or how to start. I prayed each time and still not doing good. I took 265 everytime and still bad news. Can someone that been in my shoes give some good study advice. It's costly to retake especially if it's just you finacially. Someone please help. During nursing school I been through alot, I lost my husband but I went back and graduated. It's been a year and all my classmates working and happy. I am so depressed about my results, that I feel like it's not for me. But than I say if it wasn't for me I wouldn't made it to graduate. Help please.

Have you tried the Saunders Comprehensive Review book? It is one of the better ones available, giving rationales for the answers. The best advice I can give is to go over in your mind about how you studied in the past. Don't cut yourself any slack in your self appraisal. Try to come up with things that you could change to get a better outcome. Maybe you need to get up earlier than the rest of the family and do the bulk of your study in the morning when it is quiet and you can concentrate better. Maybe you just need to change your study material so that you aren't subconsciously skipping over points because you've seen the same page so often. Just don't give up. If you keep trying, you will pass.

No I haven't tried that. When I get the book how can a develop a good study plan. Thanks for responding, I just been so upset with failing all the time.

first thing first is how is your study progress before?

saunders comprehensive review book is one good source to study the content.

maybe before you review for kaplan you haven't had enough knowledge on the content. content first then review questions and rationales.

it's hard to study if you're not totally focus

i suggest you make a time plan on your everyday schedule incuding work

have faith in yourself, and don't give up!

you're not alone..and yes we all went through our nursing school

so as I always tell myself

if someone could pass the nclex--why not someone like you?

aaahh..nursing you really got to be a competitive one!

Jarlesha, I am in the same boat with you. But the first step is being true to yourself. If you look at the assesment sent to you by the boards you will see your area of weakness and you can strengthen this by reviewing all over again. concentrate on your area of weakness ten review other content area because you can not neglect them too.

I know this exam can be tricky. It will only make you stronger. You have to be strong for yourself and your kids. Go back to studying with full force and you will make it. God will provide money to retake. You and I will smile in the end. Everytime I feel like quitting I see my daughter's face and feel my unborn heart beat and I know that I can never quit. Please do the same you will do fine.

Thank you so much for the encouragement.

first off.. i,m sorry for your loss... it shows you are a strong person that you carried on with studies.

I too failed twice, passed 3rd time.... I read the saunders 4th edition, and bought the linda la charity book delegation and priority.. i found this helped a lot.

Try not to get down about it.. i know thats easier said than done.. you will do this you know:wink2::wink2:

You have the right temperment to be a nurse..and a good one, this will only make you stronger and your husband is watching over you:saint:, just read the saunders, it is very easy reading and if you want i can send you the la charity book:)

its my turn to help others now.

Take comfort to know that you are not alone; there are many others who have taken and failed, yes some 3 or even 4 or 5 times. Yes, it is expensive to retake but have faith, maybe it was not your time. Get back in the saddle and give it all that you have :banghead: you also have the support from all of us on this site. :icon_hug:Good luck on your studies.

hi! i havent taken NCLEX but as what most of my mentors say, start studying the basics and you'll get better at identifying the abnormalities in different cases. try learning/studying by body systems too so as not to overwhelm yourself with so much info. hope this will help in some way. :specs:

When you start to study again do so as if you haven't tested before. Set out some protected study time each day and stick to it. Practise questions and read the rationales. You have had a rough time but with determination you can make it. Good luck

Thank you all sooooo much, and thanks for even replying to give me some input.

Hi Jarlesha,

Keep your faith and do not give up. You would not have come this far to give up now. Try the study materials that the previous replies have suggested and try and not think about the times you have not passed. Also, a helpful tip for me is to not read to much into the question should just answer what the question asks. (meaning do not second guess yourself) And last when you are taking your test try and think of the place where you studied home, bedroom etc it kind of eases your thoughts and fears that you are in a familiar setting where you studied. These tips has worked for me because sometimes I experience test anxiety when taking a test. My thoughts and prayers are with you and claim the victory you will pass next time.
