Failed 3 times in CO and won't let me retest.

Hi I graduated nursing school in 2011 and have attempted the NCLEX-RN 3 times and failed. I had been told that I would be able to remediate and attempt the NCLEX RN a 4th time. I just contacted the CO board of nursing and they are telling me that I won't be able to test for licensure in CO that I have to take the exam in a non compact state and once I pass the exam I can get licensed through endorsement. Does anyone know what state I would be able to test in. Any help is greatly appreciated.

There are currently 25 Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) States. You should contact the Board of Nursing for whichever non-member state you opt to test for as to eligibility and application requirements.

WA state has unlimited attempts you just have to wait 45 days if you fail and pay $200 for the exam. I asked to make sure because I have to take it for the 4th time!

As far as I know, CA still allows unlimited retakes, but unfortunately it is not a compact state.

Thus isn't a problem. If the OP is a Colorado resident, he or she can't test in a company that state.

OP can do non compact states

If it were me, I would want to test in a compact state.

As long as the OP maintains residency in Colorado, he or she can not apply for licensure in any other compact states.

Further, when a non-resident applies for licensure in a compact state, he or she will be issued a single state license, good only in the state in which it is issued.

Hi. Thank you all for your help. I have contacted the Nevada Board of Nursing and they have informed me that I will be able to get my license through examination with them.

You should take a Kaplans prep course

The rules of the NLC specify that, if you live in a compact state, you can only be licensed in your home state, not any other compact state (you can be licensed in as many non-compact states as you want, but you can only be licensed in one compact state (at a time), and it must be your state of residence. Like driver's licenses). If the OP lives in CO, applications to any other compact states would simply be rejected.
