Failed to pass NCLEX the 3rd time....

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Hi everyone,I've heard so much about this site and read a lot of the posts here about the people who are having difficulties with their studies and even those about the success that these people have, i just wanted to ask some people there who same as me did not pass yet their NCLEX-RN exam, it already took me 3 tries, first of all i took my first in the Philippines, failed with 75 questions, next when i got here to New York, i took my 2nd one right after i finished the Kaplan Review Center, ended up with another 75 questions but still failed, and my recent one was a few days ago and i had been self studying for a month or so and had 151 questions in total, and yesterday found out that i still failed, its hard to think that all that effort was for nothing, i had a very good feeling while taking my 3rd test and everything felt in place until i found out, now I'm just gonna try again, i heard that its going to take about 45 days before i can take the test in New York State is that right? and can anybody give me some advice on what i should do and things that might help me out on my next try. Thanks, most of the posts i read here are very comforting and i really feel that everyone here understands what the people are going through especially about these NCLEX exams and passing/failing....

hi john,

Im pretty sure you are almost there...for you to have taken past 150 questions means you were quite beating NCLEX but maybe still needs a little bit to go over the passing score... Now this is the time to gather everything and review again.., The best thing is they will send you a test score where you can see there where you almost passed and which onces that needs more reviewing...

You are almost there kabayan... Konti na lang :) Isa na lang...

Goodluck :)

woww! mitch hehehe Kabayan !!Glad to Know that and also Cunanan..!!:kiss

Thanks Mitch, yeah i know I'm almost there every time i try the exam it gets easier and gives me confidence i just wan to pass it already so i can start my career, i mean I'm not that old yet but still want to start a good foundation in life, and yeah its true that me getting those 150 questions this time was a sign of my progress just a little more hard work and ill reach the top.

Maraming Salamat sa suporta :)

3rd time test taker.. first attempt stopped at 85.. next attempt went to 205 and now stopped at 90.. i feel like everytime i get a SATA question im never positive of my answers.. and i feel like im guessing most of the time.. since i stopped at 90 im assuming i didnt answer the basic questions correctly in order to get up to the higher level questions..

any suggestions on what to use to become more familiar with the content part of the nclex and how to better answer those sata questions.. i use the true and false method but its kinda pointless if ur not familiar with the certain content of the question..

hi arod21...

The book that really helped me with content is the Saunders Comprehensive. I read it from cover to cover.. pushing myself 1 chapter a day, after that answering the practice questions on the CD with Content area only...

DO not give up... When I first took the test some few years back, it would always stop to 75... then another time stopped at 86, then again stopped at 91... all failed... but I never stopped...I knew that if i continue some more that I would hit it someday...just continue pushing yourself forward..Last Saturday when i passed, the computer stopped at 180...

hi arod21,

did you find out if you passed or failed this time? or do you need help in understanding the SATA questions?

and don't worry everybody fails sometimes in their lives you just got to get up and try again, a lot of good people here are very supportive because its doesn't only happen to you or me but a lot more people everywhere and they just keep trying again until they're successful like we will be soon :-)

great advice mitch, yeah I'm standing on my feet again now and focusing more on the questions and how to answer them I'm using saunders too and its very helpful and i just wish to take the next one and make it count :-)

Kaplan and pda was much harder then nclex too me.

Saunders questions are harder too ...but real good on content

So do Saunders questions:green disk =contant

Linda la carthy PDA =prioritizing Must know in order to pass/ great infection control chap too

and Exam cram+exam prep questions only =nclex like questions

and you will PASS 45 days is more then enough time

total questions about 5000 so divide 5000/by 40 days you get 125 questions a day take the last 5 to review infection control and lab values and all nurses study guide

complete in this order

saunders

pda

examcram/exam prep you should be able to find software to both on here

Thanks Atinurseken,

Looks like a good plan and thanks for saying that i will PASS and i know it too, ill try what you provided with all that i can i really do want to pass and get the exam over with :-) thanks for your support!!

I also took it 3 times and i think i passed on the third one. I took it yesterday and I got a good pop up with PVT!! Dont give up!!! and I also agree with LexiJ above with Kaplan. I think Kaplan helps alot. I actually did Kaplan twice. The first time I just did question banks and it happened to be that I was memorizing the answers not critical thinking each time.

The second time I took Kaplan I read the book, reviewed the lecture videos, i did Question trainers twice, reviewed and wrote down rationales.

When answering the questions, try to rationalize each answer choices~ that helped alot to me!!! Dont give up!!!

if u cant find the software just pm me
