failed nursing students

is there anyone out there who has faliled out of nursing school? im due to start nursing school in may2011 and i was just looking to get some imput from some of you ..maybe things you would have done differernt? advice? im so happy to have made it this far but im also SO terrified i could end up flunking out :idea:

Read your books and study hard. Listen in class instead of texting. Ask for help when you need it. Come up with silly games to help you remember things or silly rhymes. Find study buddies. Some of my class has failed out but most either have repeated or class or they have been like myself and done fairly well. Know you are going to be studying every day of the week including weekends and holidays. Take short breaks while studying to refresh your mind. Then I think you wont have to worry about failing:)

So, instead you'd prefer folks repeat themselves.

My advice for nursing school, get used to researching your questions.....you'll need citations on just about everything you turn in.

i understand that. im sure the audience on this fourm changes regularly and that question being brought up on occasion doesnt bother anyone ...

ahhhhhhh great to hear about the math being "only the begining" =/

Assumptions are dangerous things.

Truly it was the attitude that came off, sounding like "I'd rather everyone else answer my question again than spend my time looking" that was objectionable.

sorry about the "attitude" . i started this thread purley for insight and advice . I will admit a may have one at times but honestly if it annoys you THAT much , dont come into this thread . So hop off . k thanks ! ;]

Yes, I began my nursing program Fall 08 and was very excited.. We have to have an 80% at the end of each quarter to pass and by the end I had a 79.8%!!! I failed out! Yep, I was so upset and mad at myself. So, I waited another year and they saved a spot for me and I am back and doing well. Getting ready to finish up my first year and going to get my LPN this summer.

Some advice: TRY YOUR BEST! Read early, make flashcards, study, study, study! Nursing school is very exhausting so try to turn everything in early. Do not be a procrastinator. It helps keep your stress level down if you start early. Another thing is that always towards the end of the quarter, I start getting tired and lazy..So, if I get great test scores then come final time I am not pressured to get a high grade to pass the quarter. I have never been great at math and it takes practice. Clinical is where tons of your learning takes place. Stay positive.

Now saying all of that..I sometimes get tired and procrastinate and have bad days but I think about the outcome. Good luck! It will be a long and emotional journey but so worth it!! Congrats on making it to where you alrady have:yeah:

i was at a bookstore today and saw kaplans nclex-rn book of meds...i was thinking about buying it to just start looking it over...i figured it couldnt be a bad idea to start looking over the different meds and thr side effects and uses .

You are exactly righ!!! APA format. This would be a good book to purchase. Keep like its your school bible.
