Hello everyone. I was so dissapointed to find out I did not pass the entrance exam. I couldnt believe it. I studied the NET study guide, and I did really well on the Math section, and received a 52 on the reading but they said I needed a 55. How many of you had to take it twice. It really upsets me because I thought I did well on the reading and guess I was wrong. Any suggestiong on how to study more for that part?? I would be devastated to take it again and fail, I think that would make me believe I would not be smart enough to enter Nursing School.
Thanks

I know you are disappointed because you studied with the guide. But whatever you do, don't give up. When I went to take my NET test, there were 4 of us that day and myself and another girl passed and the other two failed the reading portion and they had to take it over again. I think there are many people that do poorly on standardized test. Do not let this exam upset you and make you think that you are not good enough for nursing school. Just believe in yourself and know that you are going to do better next time. You can't let negativity bring you down because it will. Think positive, go in there with a positive attitude and say I will do well this time and this is the last time I am taking this test and I WILL pass. You must fight back and don't give up so easily.
Good Luck and God Bless.

I had to take it twice. I went to the college commputer Lad and increased my ready level and took tests on what I read that really helped me. I went up almost double. I ended up with a 98% in Math and a 89% in reading a total of 94% overall. The first time I had a 71% overall and we need at least a 74% to get points. Our school does not require that you make a certain grade to get in. But you don't get the 3 points which will hurt your chances.

Don't worry Brandy. You have to be smart enough! Math is always harder and you did well on that part!
You were so close on the Reading section. Just a few points...
Keep going. Everyone here will send you good vibs (and prayers)

This may be a dumb question, but I assume calculators aren't allowed for the NET test???? I've been studying, and the math problems are simple enough, but since I've been using a calculator for even simple addition and subtraction since about 4th grade, I'm not very quick at simple math without one. Addition, subtraction, multiplication and simple division is difficult for me without a calculator (I wish this wasn't so!) but complex algebra and pre-calculus is fine... since calculators are necessary for those problems! Do I need to go back to third grade for a couple weeks to brush up on my simple math skills???

I believe Einstein said, if you never made a mistake, then you have not learned anything. And Aliyah said dust yourself off and try again. And I say crack that test down.
