Colorado Advice Please
Hello everyone. Just wanted to know if anyone here lives or is from Colorado. I live in Michigan and have for the past 32 years, which is my whole life. I just started going back to school a year ago to obtain my degree for Nursing. I just got back from Colorado visiting my brother, he lives in Boulder area, and I absolutly loved it!!! Was there for 8 days. I went last year, but this time it was much different. Can anyone tell me how the schools are, I was looking in to Front Range in Boulder, that is if I decide to move. Any imput would be great, as far as schooling, I have 2 children. Is finding a job going to be difficult. I know the cost of living is much higher than Michigan :

Failed Net Test
Hello everyone. I was so dissapointed to find out I did not pass the entrance exam. I couldnt believe it. I studied the NET study guide, and I did really well on the Math section, and received a 52 on the reading but they said I needed a 55. How many of you had to take it twice. It really upsets me because I thought I did well on the reading and guess I was wrong. Any suggestiong on how to study more for that part?? I would be devastated to take it again and fail, I think that would make me believe I would not be smart enough to enter Nursing School. Thanks

Horrible Chemistry Teacher...
Hello everyone. I just wanted to see if there is any advice, and if anyone has been in this situation. In order to get my name on the waiting list I must have this class finished, my goal before Sept, so my chances may be good for Fall of 06 to enter Nursing School. So I signed up for Intro to Chem and 2 credit class for the Spring semester.Went to class 2 times and I am telling you this teacher does not know how to teach. I don't know much about Chemistry and I feel now I will have to teach myself all of this. I have received all A's in my other Pre-reqs and feel that I am not going to be able to make this class. It's not that I mind double the work, it's just I wish I was being taught something from this teacher, and it is not just me the whole class aggree's to that he is not going over the basics with us. What do you do when you have a horrible teacher. There is not another class for me to even switch to. I have my first exam Thurs and last day to drop class would be June 6, which I am dreading to do because that could set me back another year.

Mom's And Nursing School
I am sorry when I first read your post, I kind of took it a little offensive, but you having a teenage girl I could see why you may be a little curious. I just think everyone at some point in their life doesn't make the right decision, or do things in the order things SHOULD be done. What matters is correcting your decisions and making your life better at some point. I dropped out of school in the 10th grade, unfortunatly didn't have good parenting while growing up, I was exposed to the bar scene at 18, and waitressed at a strip club until I was around 24, had my second child, and guess I would say then I decided to grow up. My first decision was to get out of the bar scene, which I did, after that it seemed like each year that passed I started to care more about my life and what I should be doing with it as far as for my children. I decided to get an office job, I have bought a house, but my boyfriend and I split up, so it was then I knew I had to go back to school and I wanted to accomplish getting a degree, and be able to provide for myself and children. I don't really think it matters why people do things backwards, circumstances happen, all I know is that with parenting you have to be involved in your childs life, make education stick in their minds, and be very close with them. I don't want to put the blame totally on my mother, but I do believe that if she talked with me and explained to me how important school was I definitly would have made some better decisions in my life. I am just looking forward now, at 32 I feel bad sometimes that I didn't go straight to college, I am doing it now though and feel the best about myself than I ever had.

Mom's And Nursing School
I just want to say thanks to everyone, all your stories and advice is great encouragment for me. Knowing and hearing how other mom's have done it makes me feel that I can. Jessica I can totally relate to your friend, who I think is doing a great job :) Although I am not in Nursing school yet it is much harder just going to school, holding down a full time job. I drop kids off in morning to school, drive to work, get off at 5 and go to school 3 nights a week, pick kids up, homework with them, cook household chores. Not to mention squeezing my homework and studying in, and wake up and repeat it all over again. It just seems like such a long road, and I hope it goes by fast. I know it will be well worth it in the end. Good luck to you, and thanks again.

No Luck Getting Hospital Job
Hello anyone. Just wondering if any advice is out there on how to get into a hospital, without hospital exp. I am going to school for Nursing, havent started NSG school yet, and I have worked at my job for almost 5years, which it is ok, but I am doing clerical, general office work. I feel I really want to change my career and want to get a job in the hospital to at least get a feel of what i will be doing. It seems to be a Nursin assistant now you have to be certified, so I have accepted that, but I have almost everyday online been applying to every hospital around me online for almost any job for the past 6 months and still no luck. Has anyone had this same problem, :stone

Mom's And Nursing School
Thanks for the encouragment. My boys are 6 and 10. They are a handful. Good luck to you. Where you are is nursing school full time also. I just couldnt believe it when they told me to keep 4 days a week clear from 8-4pm. That is really going to be hard to even maintain a job, kids, and try to study. When do you find the time to study. I guess I need to relax and take day by day. I am still finishing my Pre-reqs. I just think way to far ahead, and I am asking myself to stop worrying about what will hopefully come in fall of 2006.

Mom's And Nursing School
Thank you very much. I would never and never have thought about giving my children to a relative while I'm in school. It does feel better to hear that people can accomplish Nursing school and children. I have awhile to go yet, I am hoping to enter the school in fall of 2006. I am just trying to prepare things and think things out clearly. I will be giving up a job I have been at for 5 years aand my house to tenants to rent out, it is a pretty scary thought. I hope it all works out as I plan. Thanks again!!!!Good luck and Congradulations!

Mom's And Nursing School
I was also wondering if or would like to hear some success stories of any singles mother's finishing nursing school. I have a friend who actually had her child go live with her grandparents during the 2 years of nursing school, so she said it was because it was such an intense program. I guess I need a little encouragment on accomplishing it with two children. Those of you who are going to nursing school, are you going to work, and how can you pull that off. What are your plans or how did you do it. I have a house payment, and am not making it working FULL TIME. My mom did say if i can rent the house out we could move in with her for the 2 years. It will be a huge change though, going from having our own house, freedom, and back to moms and sharing a household. Guess I have to sacrifice things to get where I want, 2 years just seems so long

Net Test??
Hello everyone. I am just wondering how many people took the NET test and didnt make it the first time. I have the study guide and find some of the Comprehension part to be a little confusing, where I think I have the right answer and it is wrong. I am taking the test in 2 weeks and am slightly nervous..

Nervous About Summer Classes
Hello everyone. I am trying to finish all the basic pre-req in order to get my name on waiting list. I just returned to school about year and half ago. I am 32 with 2 children and also a single mother. so it get's a little overwhelming, but since i have been back I have received all A's even in Pre algebra which is my worst subject. I am worried that it's all going to go down hill because I am taking Chem this Spring and Principles of Bio in the summer. Are the 7 week classes really tough, and from what people say about chem It's pretty scary!!! I feel I will be crushed if I do bad now? And anyone have any ideas on what you are going to do when accepted into nursing school. How can you go to school and work, if it's full time. I have a house payment and don't know how i will live without working full time. Confused about that situation too. Any advice will help Thanks :)
